The father of a Hawaii woman who has been missing since early November died on Sunday in an apparent suicide
Police told KNBC that Hannah Kobayashi’s father leaped from a parking deck at Los Angeles International Airport. On November 11, Kobayashi vanished two weeks earlier after missing a connecting New York-bound flight from the same airport.
Kobayashi, 30, who is from Hawaii, was reportedly spotted at the Los Angeles airport three days after missing her connecting flight. According to People, Kobayashi told her aunt that she returned to the airport on November 9, a day after she missed the connecting flight.
“I think someone’s trying to steal my identity. I’m really scared,” Kobayashi allegedly texted to her family.
Kobayashi was possibly seen getting on a train with an unidentified person, but her whereabouts remain a mystery.
“The Kobayashi family endured a devastating tragedy today. After tirelessly searching throughout Los Angeles for 13 days, Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life. This loss has compounded the family’s suffering immeasurably,” a nonprofit organization that is working with Kobayashi’s family said in a statement to KABC.
