Authorities in Washington, D.C., arrested two suspects for allegedly assaulting a police officer near Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign rally on Tuesday night.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reported to Fox News Digital that the arrests occurred around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of 17th St. and Constitution Ave., Northwest, just a few blocks south of the White House.
The suspects—a man and a woman—were taken into custody right outside the perimeter of the Ellipse, the park where Harris was holding her rally. The campaign event was still ongoing at the time of the arrests, with Harris scheduled to take the stage at approximately 7:40 p.m., the outlet reported.
An MPD spokesperson said that an individual “attempted to cross a police line near the intersection of 15th Street and Constitution Avenue, Northwest.”
17th St. and 15th. St. along Constitution Ave. are the west and east corners of the Ellipse, respectively, Fox noted.
“The individual ignored the officer’s commands,” the official explained to the outlet. “As officers attempted to remove the woman, she began assaulting the officer.”
“A second individual approached the officers from behind, and assaulted them,” the statement noted further. “Both individuals were placed under arrest without further incident and charged with Assaulting a Police Officer. The arresting officers were not injured.”
It is unclear whether the individuals arrested were supporters of Harris, protesters, or unaffiliated with the rally. At least one protester was detained during the event amid pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
Protesters were observed wearing keffiyehs and holding signs that read “Stop Arming Israel” and “Stop U.S. Funding of Israeli Apartheid.” The MPD did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s inquiry regarding any arrests of protesters.
Democrats have made a lot of noise about former President Donald Trump’s age, but it looks like Harris is the one who is losing steam with less than a week to go.
The Trump War Room, social media account, posted a video of Harris yawning and looking off into space while seated next to an aide who was using a cell phone. Harris appears to be aboard one of the Marine helicopters that shuttle her and President Joe Biden to nearby events and airports for longer flights.
Trump’s campaign declared Harris is “cracking” after just three months as the Democratic Party’s nominee, a position she was “installed” into, it added. “Kamala is exhausted — cracking under the rigors of a presidential campaign after she was installed as a nominee who didn’t earn a single vote. Yikes!” read the post on X.

This comes as Harris is dealing with another scandal this week.
During a Zoom call, Biden spoke about the comedian at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday, comparing Puerto Rico to a “floating island of garbage.”
Biden said during the call: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his [Trump’s] supporters.”
The Harris campaign immediately refuted Biden’s remark. “I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for,” she said before heading to a rally in North Carolina.
Trump immediately responded to Biden’s remark: “Wow, that’s what [Biden] says… garbage. I think it’s worse [than deplorable].”
Trump was talking about Hillary Clinton’s famous 2016 speech in which she called Trump’s supporters during his first run for office a “basket of deplorable.”
“Please forgive him for he knoweth not what he say. Honestly he doesn’t. And I’m convinced that he likes me more than he likes Kamala,” Trump said, referring to Biden’s declining mental abilities.
