Matt Walsh’s documentary “Am I Racist?” embarks on a daring journey to challenge the perceived flaws in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) movement. Walsh dives deep, claiming DEI locks individuals into rigid victim or oppressor roles, halting personal and societal growth.
He argues this rigid framework crushes merit-based progress and stifles individual potential. By pigeonholing people, DEI, according to Walsh, undermines the values of hard work and perseverance, casting a shadow over the pursuit of excellence.
“… the left what they have is they have the victim and oppressor narrative, and that’s all they really have. That’s kind of what lays at the bottom of the left-wing racial ideology, which is what the DEI scam… the thing is, in that narrative, if you’re in the oppressor class, and we know that Donald Trump is like the Uber oppressor in their narrative. You can never that can never change.
… if you’re a victim, that’s the other thing. If you’re a victim means that you’re always going to be a victim too. That will never change. There’s no redemption, there’s no change, there’s no there’s no climbing the ladder improving yourself. So it’s this ideology that ultimately is incredibly depressing and demoralizing.”
The documentary suggests that DEI’s labeling erodes the quintessential American dream of rising through grit and determination. Walsh urges viewers to reconsider DEI’s impact on the American promise of freedom and opportunity for all, challenging us to reflect on whether this ideological rigidity aligns with our founding principles.
