New polling suggests that former President Donald Trump could score a lot of Hispanic-American votes in the 2024 presidential election.Â
This is according to a new report from the Washington Examiner.Â
This could be extremely bad news for Vice President Kamala Harris – Trump 2024 rival – considering that this is one of the Democrats’ key voter demographics.
The reader may remember that Trump and his fellow Republicans did quite well with Hispanic Americans in the 2022 elections. If the new polling is correct, however, Trump could do even better in 2024.
Here are the details:
The new polling actually suggests that Trump could receive a record level of support from Hispanic Americans.
“A new poll also shows that the greatest number of Cuban Americans in recorded history say they are voting for former President Donald Trump,” the Examiner reports.
The polling comes from southern Florida, which has a higher-than-average population of Hispanic Americans, and what is shows is Trump receiving tremendous support.
The Examiner reports:
The biggest benchmark, researchers in South Florida note, is that 68% of likely Cuban American voters in Florida say they are voting for Trump. This is up from 35% in 2016, and 59% in 2020, according to the latest poll conducted by the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University. Roughly 23% said they are voting for Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris.
That is a huge advantage – to say the least.
The shift
As noted, this shift – of Hispanic American switching from supporting Democrats to supporting Republicans – has been going on for some years now. But, it has really escalated in recent months.
Admittedly, Trump is doing better in Southern Florida than he is doing overall.
NBC News, for example, recently reported:
While Vice President Kamala Harris led Trump among Hispanic voters overall, 54% to 40%, each candidate got 47% support among Latino men, a marked difference from the 26-point lead Harris had among Latinas.
The key, though, is that the polls clearly show this voter demographic shifting toward Trump. The shift, in fact, is so clear that many leftist outlets have begun putting out reports trying to explain why it is that the shift is taking place. Take a look, for example, at this.
One thing to note is that polling, of course, cannot be trusted. It is possible that these polls are going to be proven wrong by the results of the 2024 election. But, it is the specific numbers that are most likely to be wrong. The trend in Trump’s favor, though, should be proven correct.
