Dr. Phil challenges critics’ characterization of Donald Trump as a bully, arguing that true bullying requires an imbalance of power.
He argues that Trump’s fiery debate tactics and clashes with critics, who label him fascist or racist, showcase a level playing field where everyone wields the power of public platforms and media.
“… let me tell you what the critics are going to say when they hear me talking about this. They’re going to say, well, now wait a minute… isn’t Trump a bully?… The answer to that question is no, because to be a bully, there has to be an imbalance of power, and when there’s not it’s just called a debate, and he’s just better at it than anybody else.”
The key difference is that Trump’s confrontational political exchanges aren’t the same as true bullying, where online mobs target private citizens without a platform to fight back.
