Donald Trump’s former fixer, Michael Cohen, continues to look for ways to hurt Trump.
Unfortunately for Cohen, that will no longer include a suit he filed against Trump seeking damages for retaliation.
The Supreme Court has rejected the case, dealing Cohen yet another legal defeat.
Playing the Hero
Cohen got himself into all kinds of trouble for some of his actions while working for Trump, and eventually wound up in jail for it.
Cohen immediately turned on Trump, showing up in the media and telling them anything they wanted to hear if it meant that he could take the legs out from under Trump.
The problem for Cohen, however, is that his credibility is shot after having been caught lying so many times.
One of his last-ditch efforts to get back at Trump was filing this lawsuit, but that has also now run its course.
In his filing, Cohen argued, “As it stands, this case represents the principle that presidents and their subordinates can lock away critics of the executive without consequence.”
Trump’s legal team countered that the case was “entirely devoid of merit,” and the Supreme Court agreed.
After the court rejected the case, Cohen’s attorney, Jon-Micheal Dougherty, stated that this now signifies a “dangerous moment in American democracy.”
He continued, “It is now up to Congress and the American people to re-secure the right to speech without fear of imprisonment that the Founders secured when they created this nation.”
Cohen is among those pitching the narrative that if Trump gets elected, he will go on a revenge tour and weaponize the DOJ against all of his enemies.
Trump has stated that his revenge would be winning the election and having a successful term.
The tragedy in all of this is when all of their predictions and fearmongering about Trump do not come true, not a single one of them will be called out for the bogus narratives they have been pitching to the American people for the last two years.
