Vice President Kamala Harris recently claimed that she owns a Glock despite supporting gun control policies that ban or restrict an American’s ability to own similar weapons and despite living in a state where it is illegal to own a standard Glock magazine with over 10 rounds.
During her recent “60 Minutes” interview, CBS host Bill Whitaker told Harris that she “surprised people” recently when she claimed to be a gun owner and that she would shoot someone if they broke into her house. “That’s not the first time I’ve talked about it,” Harris responded.
Asked what kind of gun she owned, how long she owned the gun, and why she owned a gun, Harris told Whitaker, “I have a Glock, and I’ve had it for quite some time. And I mean, look, Bill, my background is in law enforcement, so there you go.”

When Whitaker asked if she had ever fired the Glock, the vice president laughed and said, “Yes, of course I have, at a shooting range. Yes, of course I have.”
Harris previously supported San Francisco’s Proposition H, which would have banned Americans from possessing guns in the Democrat-led city. According to The Post Millennial, the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee has also supported efforts to bring back the 1994 federal “assault weapons” ban and has advocated for bans on “high-capacity” magazines.
Following Harris’ “60 Minutes” interview, the Daily Caller reported that if Harris owns a standard Glock magazine with over 10 rounds in California, she would be violating the California Penal Code, which could lead to a misdemeanor charge and could be punished with a sentence of up to one year in prison.
The Reload also reported that many Glock pistols are considered “unsafe” under California law since the pistols do not feature a magazine disconnect or loaded chamber indicator.
While the vice president has a long history of advocating for policies that ban or restrict firearms, Harris has shifted her policy stance while campaigning for president. During a recent interview, Harris claimed that both she and her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), are gun owners, adding, “If somebody breaks into my house, they’re getting shot.”
