California has been doing this process for decades but used the repurposed water for farming, and has been used in some instances to make snow for resorts.

NBCDFW reported: ‘It’s a big step for a state that has struggled for decades to have a reliable source of drinking water for its more than 39 million residents. And it signals a shift in public opinion on a subject that as recently as two decades ago prompted backlash that scuttled similar projects.

‘Since then, California has been through multiple extreme droughts, including the most recent one that scientists say was the driest three-year period on record and left the state’s reservoirs at dangerously low levels,’ the outlet added.

We’re creating a new source of supply that we were previously discharging or thinking of as waste. As we look to make our communities more resilient to drought, to climate change, this is really going to be an important part of that solution.

This is really about recovering resources, not wasting precious resources. This is really, I think, an exciting opportunity for helping to realize that vision of a more circular sort of approach for water.

In typical California fashion, last year I reported how the state was dumping perfectly clean freshwater, that could have been used to fill reservoirs and aquafers, and used to water the farm fields that are apparently under constant threat of draught – instead was dumped into the sea into sectioned-off fish reserves, fish that is not even for consumption. But now, instead of putting the good water to use, these sickos are now going to make many Californians drink the “purified” piss water. Typical.
