President Donald Trump has taken the lead over Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania, according to a polling average from RealClearPolitics posted Tuesday.
Trump leads 48.2 percent to Harris’ 48.1 percent in the key battleground state, making for a .01 point lead, according to the aggregation. RealClearPolitics calculated this number by using an average of a dozen different polls. Harris had been leading Pennsylvania since Sept. 18, but ultimately lost her lead to Trump on Sept. 29.
This is Trump’s first lead since Sept. 16, when he was ahead by 0.2 points over Harris.
Trump has been campaigning frequently in Pennsylvania and will return to Butler, Pennsylvania on Oct. 5, according to his website, the location where he was almost assassinated on July 13.
Support for the former president has been underestimated in Pennsylvania, according to Pennsylvania campaign spokesperson Kush Desai, who spoke with Newsweek. A recent survey done by Trafalgar Group shows Trump leading Harris by over 2 points in the key battleground state. This survey polled 1,090 voters between Sept. 26-29 and revealed that Trump was leading 47.5 percent to Harris’s 45.3 percent.
Desai argues that “pollsters, the media, and ‘intellectuals’ have repeatedly failed to grasp the depth and breadth of support for President Donald J. Trump from the American people. Americans have a clear choice this election: another four years of rising prices, open borders, and incompetence under Kamala Harris or a return to the peace, prosperity, and stability of the Trump administration. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is going to prove itself, once again, to be TRUMP COUNTRY in November.”
New polling done by the American Association of Retired Persons shows that with voters aged 50 and older, Trump is leading Harris 52-44. This suggests that the elderly vote could be key to a Trump Pennsylvania win in November. Digging further into the poll done by the AARP, Trump leads Harris 57 percent to her 39 percent among older white males states the New York Post.
A different polling average from FiveThirtyEight has Harris slightly ahead in Pennsylvania, with her taking 48 points to Trump’s 47.4.
Trump will have enough votes to be declared the 47th President of The United States if he can win Pennsylvania along with North Carolina, and Georgia, according to Newsweek.
Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania will begin this Saturday, Oct. 5, one month before Election Day. He has teased a return to Butler on Truth Social saying that he would be back “for a big beautiful rally” to honor the late Corey Comperatore and the two others who were injured by gunfire on July 13th states NBC News.
At Trump’s last rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, he said that Harris should leave her office and be kicked out of the running for president.
“She should be disqualified. She should resign the vice presidency and go home to California,” Trump said to the cheering crowd in Erie per an ABC News report.
Trump lost Pennsylvania to Biden back in 2020 with Biden garnering 50 percent of the vote to Trump’s 48.4 percent.
