In his latest attack against Vice President Kamala Harris, former President and Republican Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has accused the Democratic Presidential nominee of clicking a “staged” photo purportedly showing her being briefed on the effects of Hurricane Helene.
Knewz.com has learned that the picture showed that the Vice President’s headphones were not plugged into her phone and that she appeared to be jotting down notes on blank sheets of paper.
The “fake” photograph was posted on Vice President Harris’s page on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption:
“I was just briefed by @FEMA_Deanne Criswell [the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency] on the latest developments about the ongoing impacts of Hurricane Helene. We also discussed our Administration’s continued actions to support emergency response and recovery.”
“I also spoke with @NC_Governor Cooper [North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper] about the ongoing rescue and recovery efforts in North Carolina,” the post further stated.
“Our Administration will continue to stay in constant contact with state and local officials to ensure communities have the support and resources they need. Doug (presumably Douglas Emhoff, her husband) and my thoughts are with all those who lost loved ones and those whose homes, businesses, and communities were damaged or destroyed during this disaster.”
Her post on X saw several comments calling her out on the “fake” aspects of the photo and her “pathetic” response to North Carolina, which is one of the worst-affected areas in the hurricane.
One of the users also commented, “You don’t look presidential at all stop trying.”
Far-right political activist, conspiracy theorist, and internet personality Laura Loomer also commented on the tweet, saying, “WOW I CANNOT BELIEVE MY OWN EYES.”
“@KamalaHarris is pretending to write on a piece of blank paper and is pretending to listen to a call from FEMA about Hurricane Helene, but her headphones aren’t even plugged into her phone!!”
“Oh my god… Kamala Harris is literally Retarded,” Loomer added in her comment.
Several notable Republican and conservative figures have taken to social media to comment about the “absurdity” of the Vice president’s post.
Conservative commentator Mollie Hemingway also criticized Harris’s post, saying, “This is the most VEEP-like photo ever — pretending to be on a phone call but forgetting to plug in the antiquated earphones while pretending to write on a blank piece of paper instead of actually doing anything.”
Andy Biggs, the Republican Representative from Arizona, wrote, “Border Czar Kamala can’t miss a photo op… The photographer should make sure the headphones are plugged into the phone next time.”
Republican communicator Matt Whitlock also commented on the photo, saying, “Thank goodness she’s pretending to write on this blank piece of paper from the plane while campaigning.”
“I’m sure the people without power and water feel totally supported,” Whitlock added.
Trump jumped on the bandwagon as well and wrote a critique of the “staged” photo on his Truth Social platform, where he took the opportunity to rant about how the Biden-Harris administration “abandoned Americans in Afghanistan.”
“Another FAKE and STAGED photo from someone who has no clue what she is doing. You have to plug the cord into the phone for it to work! Biden and Harris abandoned Americans in Afghanistan,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“They sacrificed Americans to an Open Border, and now, they have left Americans to drown in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and elsewhere in the South.”
“Under this Administration, Americans always come last, because we have “leaders” who have no idea how to lead,” he added.
The storm has caused widespread death and destruction across the Southeastern United States—especially in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. However, it has been pointed out that Vice President Harris has yet to visit any of the affected areas in person.
