One of the ugly truths that’s become apparent because of the COVID pandemic is that medicine has become mercenary – and even murderous. Hospital chains and HMOs have become more interested in making money than doing no harm, as per the Hippocratic Oath that we believe used to govern medicine.
They don’t care what it ends up costing patients and their families.
Even if it costs them their lives.
It is estimated that medical malpractice alone is the primary cause of around 250,000 deaths annually in the United States, in third place, behind heart disease and cancer as the thing most likely to kill a person.
And that was before COVID.
It is hard to know exactly how many people actually did die of – rather than with – COVID as almost everyone who died of something during 2020 (and 2021) was counted as a “COVID” death. Infamous examples included the Florida man in his 20s who was listed as a “COVID” death after he was killed in a motorcycle crash and his corpse “tested positive.” Also, the death of former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Colin Powell – who was 84 when he died of old age and cancer, was also credited to “COVID.”
This is not to minimize the deaths of older/vulnerable people who did die as a result of COVID. It is to make a point about the dishonesty of the reporting.
The fact is that while the pandemic is over, people are still dying – just not so much from COVID. Their deaths are being hastened – in the words of patients’ rights advocate Scott Schara, for whom this issue is extremely personal. His 19-year-old daughter Grace died on October 13, 2021, while in the “care” of a medical conglomerate, Ascension Health, that owns St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Appleton, Wisconsin.
According to Schara’s wrongful death suit – Schara v. Ascension Health, et al – Grace Schara was medically murdered by hospital workers who “administered a combination of lethal and unnecessary drugs” after she’d been admitted to the hospital on account of relatively minor symptoms related to her COVID diagnosis. Shortly thereafter, a doctor stated that it would be medically necessary to put Grace – who was not seriously ill at this point – on a ventilator; then the “recommended treatment” for people who had been admitted to the hospital with COVID.
Her father asked the doctor: “What is that recommendation based on?” Supposedly, on Grace’s low blood-oxygen levels. But Scott Schara had been testing them with his own tester, the accuracy of which was not disputed by the medical staff, who admitted that their testing equipment was prone to giving inaccurate readings (due to skin sweat interfering with the contacts). Schara says he was repeatedly pressured to give a “preauthorization,” which would have allowed staff to put her on a ventilator at their discretion, which he refused to do.
He began to question “doctor’s orders.”
Eventually, he was forced to leave his daughter’s room – escorted by an armed guard – and that was the last time he saw her.
Alive.
After Scott Schara was made to leave her side, Grace was heavily sedated using a powerful anesthesia drug called Precedex – without her parent’s consent or even knowledge. The drug’s manufacturer says Precedex should not be used for more than 24 hours yet Grace was sedated with it for several days, according to the medical records. Then she was administered more drugs, including morphine, also without her family’s knowledge or consent. It was, says her father, “a combination of drugs none of us could have survived.”
And Grace didn’t.
Her sister, Jessica – who had been allowed to remain at Grace’s bedside after her father had been forced to leave the building – frantically tried to call for help when it became clear her sister was dying. She was losing color and getting cold to the touch and the monitoring equipment indicated she was slipping away. That’s when staff said there was a DNR – Do Not Resuscitate – order in effect. “One of the nurses read off the computer that the doctor ordered Grace to be DNR and they can’t do anything about it,” Jessica said.
That is to say, the nurses had been told not to intervene.
And so Grace was allowed to die.
More bluntly put, was killed – by a combination of medical abuse and neglect. Her case is by no means the exception to the rule, either. During the pandemic, hospital chains – now controlled largely by for-profit corporations – were directly incentivized to use dangerous treatments and procedures, including ventilators and Remdesivir, which soon acquired the dark nickname, RunDeathIsNear.
Hospital chains received more government money to “treat” COVID patients in the prescribed manner.
This has its antecedents in the government takeover of healthcare in this country via Obamacare, which turned most doctors into employees of the health cartel. Employees do as they are told. They are not allowed to question what they are told. And then they tell patients – and their families – what will be done. Before Obamacare, Medicare and Medicaid paved the way for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to indirectly control “health” care by only reimbursing Standards of Care designed to hasten death.
And they’d better not question any of it.
The authoritarianism implicit in this rolls downhill. Patients are no longer people; they are cattle – to be run through the system as efficiently and quickly as possible to reduce costs.
That is to say, to increase profits – at the expense of patients such as Grace Schara, who ought to be alive and with her family.
Instead, she’s gone, forever. Along with millions of other victims of a healthcare apparatus gone mercenary – and murderous.
