Second gentleman Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, saw his first marriage end in divorce after he had an affair with and allegedly impregnated the nanny of his young children.
That information, which was exposed and confirmed earlier this summer, has been brought to the forefront again after MSNBC host Jen Psaki seemingly praised Emhoff for having purportedly “reshaped the perception of masculinity,” according to Fox News.
Cheating on a devoted wife and mother and getting the other woman pregnant is not any sort of “masculinity” that should be celebrated or emulated by others, however.
Psaki said Emhoff “reshaped the perception of masculinity”
During a recent “softball interview” on MSNBC, Psaki, the former Biden-Harris White House press secretary, said to second gentleman Emhoff, “There is also an important, interesting part about how people have talked about your role here, is how your role has reshaped the perception of masculinity.”
“I’m not sure you planned on that, but you are an incredibly supportive spouse. Has that been an evolution for you? Do you think that’s part of the role you might play as first gentleman?” she asked.
“It’s funny. I’ve started to think a lot about this. I’ve always been like this. My dad’s always been like this,” Emhoff replied. “To me, it’s the right thing to do, support women. It is mutual with Kamala and I. We support each other, we have each other’s back.”
A clip of that absurd statement and question from Psaki was shared on X by the popular End Wokeness account that accurately noted of Emhoff, “PS: He impregnated his kid’s nanny.”

Had an affair with and impregnated the nanny
The Daily Mail reported in early August that it had received confirmation from multiple sources that Emhoff, while married to his first wife, Kerstin, had an affair with and impregnated their children’s nanny and private school teacher, Najen Naylor.
At least two of Naylor’s friends confirmed to the outlet that the affair occurred and that Naylor became pregnant, which ultimately led to Emhoff getting divorced from his wife when she learned of his infidelity with the woman who was caring for their young children, who were around ages 10 and 15 at the time.
One of the sources also asserted that Naylor did not keep the baby that was produced by the illicit affair, though it is unclear if she had an abortion or gave the child up for adoption, or if Emhoff played any role in her making that decision.
Infidelity admitted
For his part, after being exposed by the Daily Mail, Emhoff admitted in a statement to CNN that he had engaged in the marriage-ending affair with the nanny, and said, “During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions. I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side.”
The outlet further reported that, per its sources, VP Harris was made aware of Emhoff’s infidelity before they were married, and likewise the Joe Biden campaign’s vetting committee learned of, but kept quiet about, the out-of-wedlock impregnation when the future president picked Harris to be his running mate in 2020.
CNN noted that a separate source confirmed the incident and said that Emhoff regretted both the circumstances of the situation and the fact that it could become public knowledge.
