CV NEWS FEED // Iran launched missiles at Israel’s capital Tel Aviv shortly after 7:30 p.m. on October 1, launching sirens across the country.
The Jerusalem Post states that Iran launched 500 missiles into Israel. As of yet, there have been no casualties, but a building and a home were hit by rockets.
Israelis have posted video footage of the rockets:
Jerusalem Post also states, “National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he had mobilized 13,000 emergency standby squads to be immediately deployed all over the State of Israel.”
The country has halted trains and planes, and has redirected planes flying into the country.
The White House warned Israel earlier in the day that it had “indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel,” and added that the U.S. was “actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack,” according to CNN.
A senior White House official stated that “A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran.”
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that the attack was a response to Israel’s killing of Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, according to the Israeli news agency Tasnim.
Iran’s mission to the United Nations, located in New York, posted to their official X account shortly after the attack that, “Iran’s legal, rational, and legitimate response to the terrorist acts of the Zionist regime… has been duly carried out.”
They added, “Should the Zionist regime dare to respond or commit further acts of malevolence, a subsequent and crushing response will ensue.”
