In a move that isn’t likely to calm “Tampon Tim” Walz’s pre-debate jitters, House Republicans want some answers from Homeland Security over the Minnesota governor’s China ties.
On Monday, the House Oversight Committee subpoenaed DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for information pertaining to a whistleblower’s disclosure that department employees expressed “serious concerns” during an internal group chat about Walz’s coziness with the communist country as well as classified and unclassified documents under DHS control.
“According to recently received whistleblower disclosures, we’ve learned of a non-classified, Microsoft Teams group chat among DHS employees and additional intelligence reports that contain information regarding a longstanding connection between the CCP and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz,” the committee said in a post to X along with a copy of the letter.

“Specifically, through whistleblower disclosures, we’ve learned of a non-classified, Microsoft Teams group chat among DHS employees—titled ‘NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync’—that contains information about Governor Walz that is relevant to our investigation. We’ve also learned that further relevant information regarding Governor Walz has been memorialized in both classified and unclassified documents in the control of DHS,” according to the committee.
“The Committee has recently received whistleblower disclosures informing the Committee of serious concern among Department of Homeland personnel regarding a longstanding connection between the CCP and Minnesota Governor Timothy James Walz,” Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said in a news release.
The group chat initials stand for “Nation State Threat — National Functional Team,” according to an Oversight Committee spokesperson.
“The Committee has also learned that further relevant information regarding Governor Walz has been memorialized in both classified and unclassified documents in the control of DHS,” the spokesperson said.
It could be a very interesting debate on Tuesday night if Walz is confronted by GOP vice presidential nominee, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) about the committee’s subpoena.
The governor has reportedly been stressing hard about the nationally televised showdown with the Ohio senator who he has viciously smeared.

“The Committee’s investigation of the CCP—begun long before Governor Walz was elevated to be the vice-presidential candidate for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris—seeks to understand the extent of the CCP’s infiltration and influence campaign and to identify legislative reforms to combat CCP political warfare targeting prominent Americans for elite capture,” Comer said.
“If a state governor and major political party’s nominee for Vice President of the United States has been a witting or unwitting participant in the CCP’s efforts to weaken our nation, this would strongly suggest that there are alarming weaknesses in the federal government’s effort to defend the United States from the CCP’s political warfare that must be urgently addressed,” the Oversight boss stated, emphasizing the potential national security risk if “Tampon Tim” has been compromised.
“The information required of DHS by the Committee’s subpoena will inform the Committee’s understanding of how successful the CCP has been in waging political warfare in and against the United States, how effectively federal agencies are addressing the communist regime’s campaign, and what reforms are necessary to counter this threat,” the Kentucky Republican concluded.
In August, Comer announced that the committee was investigating Walz’s Chinese ties.
Americans deserve to fully understand how deep Governor Walz’s relationship with China goes.

The China issue is a sensitive one for Kamala Harris’ hand-picked running mate and in a panicky move, his campaign walked back the number of times that the “coach” has visited the country from the 30 that he once bragged about to only 15.
Minnesota Public Radio’s APM Reports published a lengthy piece on Monday in a transparent effort to minimize Walz’s time in the country, saying that he “sometimes exaggerated his already substantial experience in China.”
“It’s very possible that China would be grooming an up-and-coming rising star in the political process to try to have a foothold in our government,” Comer said of Walz during an August appearance on Fox News.
