A 15-year-old student fell from a fifth-story window at Dobbins Technical High School in North Philadelphia on Tuesday, sustaining critical injuries.
According to ABC 6, the incident occurred shortly after noon in the 2100 block of West Lehigh Avenue. St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children is currently treating the student, a female, as medical staff work to stabilize her condition.
Police have not yet determined what caused the fall.
CBS News reports that officials placed the school on lockdown just after 12 p.m., according to the School District of Philadelphia.
“We can assure you that our staff is working diligently to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for our students while the authorities conduct an investigation,” school officials said in a statement.
The School District of Philadelphia’s Office of Prevention and Intervention are reportedly at the school assisting with the incident.
Anyone in need of support can contact the Philly HopeLine at 1-833-PHL-HOPE (1-833-745-4673). Counselors are on-hand at the school.
