Republicans have filed numerous lawsuits to challenge voting laws and practices before the November election.
Approximately 90 lawsuits have been filed this year by Republican groups, which are concentrated mainly in swing states and counties, The New York Times reported.
The lawyers involved in these suits say that the goal is to create more confidence in elections.
“Our legal efforts are fighting to fix the problems in the system, hold election officials accountable, protect election safeguards and defend the law. While Democrats want a system open to fraud without safeguards, that counts illegal votes, we are committed to securing the election so every legal vote is protected,” Gineen Bresso, who is running the election integrity operation for the Republican National Committee and the Trump campaign, said in a statement.
The groups that have jumped into the fray include America First Legal, which is run by Stephen Miller, and the America First Policy Institute, led by Linda McMahon.
United Sovereign Americans is another group that has filed lawsuits, which focus on possible anomalies and voting roll errors, in nine states. The idea is that if these issues are not resolved, local election officials should be given authority to refuse to certify results.
