More gaslighting came via former Attorney General Eric Holder as he claimed the Department of Justice has never been used to persecute political opposition.
The former Obama administration official spoke with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki about a wide range of topics weeks ahead of the pivotal November election. When the host of “Inside with Jen Psaki” asked about former President Donald Trump’s remarks at a campaign rally over the weekend, Holder unleashed a hot take on DOJ history that was quickly called out on social media.

“He made it clear it is not enough to threaten his perceived political foes but he will go after anyone who stood in his way in the last election too,” Psaki said.
“You heard Trump threatening to prosecute people who ‘cheat’ on this election, in it’s been a consistent message…How should we take that? Do you think the apparatus out there is prepared for him to implement what he keeps saying on the trail?” she asked Holder.
“I think we absolutely have to take him at his word and he will weaponize the Department of Justice to go after his political foes,” the former Obama administration official claimed.
Holder went on to lay out what was “frightening” about the prospect, using the tired, debunked fear-mongering rhetoric of Democrats by invoking Project 2025 which Trump has repeatedly asserted he is not connected to as well as the GOP nominee’s past experiences while in the Oval Office.
He claimed that Trump will appoint people in the Justice Department who will then “use the DOJ to go after people who are their political foes.”
“This is something that has never really happened in the history of this republic. That is something, by itself, that should disqualify him from being considered as president of the United States.,” Holder said.
“No doubt it should, among many things that should disqualify him,” Psaki dutifully agreed.
Criticism erupted on X where social media users torched the former attorney general for gaslighting viewers.
“Eric Holder literally went after then-Fox News correspondent James Rosen, spied on him, spied on his parents, called him a flight risk… with zero justification that he admitted to later,” Fox News contributor Joe Concha wrote on X. “Psaki knows this and stays silent. That gets you a promotion.”
