Roads last a lot longer than many things in a storm. Widespread doesn’t begin to touch this degree of destruction. pic.twitter.com/orXxqgd5YR

Last image of a wife and husband in Asheville, NC sheltering from the flood on a roof.
The roof would soon collapse, causing them and their 6 year old grandchild to drown.
Their daughter and mother of the child took the photograph.
When the roof collapsed, she got wedged… pic.twitter.com/tojq5XHPMk— Dhruv (@dhruv2038) September 29, 2024

? I-40 washout near Tennessee state line.
We cannot say this enough: DO NOT TRAVEL IN OR TO WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA.
Travel in this area for non-emergency purposes is hindering needed emergency response.
Details on the restricted travel area ?? https://t.co/AGDVnBcZMS. pic.twitter.com/2KLwssiBv1

Hurricane Helene only grazed us in east Alabama.
We didn’t even lose power. It has caused a historic level of damage in the Southern Appalachians though. The storm surge was also terrible in Florida and much of south Georgia is without power.
