Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was really upset by the Israeli assassination of Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut on Friday. He had been exceptionally close to the Hezbollah leader. Not just a crack commander, Khamenei described Nasrallah as “a path and a school of thought.” Rumors suggest the terrorist got his start as one of the Ayatollah’s favorite bacha bazi boys. His death “will not go unavenged” Khamenei shouted as he was whisked off to a “safe house” bunker by security. He knows he’s next on the hit parade.
Ayatollah in hiding
Iran’s “supreme leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei promised on Saturday that the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah “will not go unavenged.” At first, his unit said he was “fine” after the Israeli air strike in Beirut, Lebanon, took out Hezbollah HQ. Apparently, that was inaccurate.
Tehran declared “five days of mourning in Iran in response” to the “martyrdom of the great Nasrallah.” The goat humping terrorist was “a path and a school of thought” that would continue.
Along with him, a general of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards was there to meet his 72 virgins. Apparently acting as a military adviser and liaison between Hezbollah and the Ayatollah. Israel had him on the better off dead list for years. Nasrallah, the IDF notes, had “the blood of thousands on his hands.” They targeted him while he was “commanding more imminent attacks.” Do unto others before others can do unto you.
Joe Biden can whine about a ceasefire all he wants but it’s never going to happen. Netanyahu is out to put an end to Hezbollah and their allies in Gaza, Pakistan, Yemen and Syria all at the same time. Since every one of those terror groups are sponsored directly by Iran, Israel is ready to go to war with them, too.
The Ayatollah knows already that they’re on the brink of wider conflict. It could end up sparking off World War III. It all started when Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. Since then, all their teammates have been harassing Israel with rockets and other nastiness.
The ball is in Khamenei’s court now. He promised retaliation for a Hamas commander weeks ago and hasn’t followed through. He knows if he does, all hell’s going to break loose.
Walking on eggshells
All the senior Iranian officials are walking around on eggshells, waiting for them to explode under their feet. They’re carefully not saying anything conclusive.
“Senior Iranian figures have refrained from vowing to retaliate for the series of severe and humiliating blows that Israel has dealt Hezbollah in recent weeks, seemingly because Iran does not want a war with its arch-enemy.” The Ayatollah hasn’t followed through with his last threat.
“Iran also has not carried out its threat to avenge the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July, which Iran and Hamas blamed on Israel.” The Ayatollah was hopping up and down over that one because not only was he killed in the middle of their capitol city, it was done by someone on their own security forces.
Claims of a pre-planted bomb are being denied. The official story is that it was a short-range rocket, similar to an anti-tank weapon or a mortar shell. Which would have been fired by a member of the IRGC. Khamenei can’t justify going to war with Israel on that one. This time, Israel admits bombing Beirut.
As he headed for the bunker in the basement of an unidentified safe house, the Ayatollah demanded an update on where the centrifuge production stands. Since Vlad Putin and Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un are all threatening to go nuclear, he’s going to need to get with the program.
He’s planning to meditate on an appropriate response. “The fate of this region will be determined by the forces of resistance, with Hezbollah at the forefront,” Ayatollah Khamenei cryptically declared.
