A whistleblower has come forward claiming that a Trump rally in Wisconsin was canceled because the Secret Service did not have enough resources to secure the event. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) revealed the allegation, raising concerns about the level of security being provided to President Donald Trump amidst repeated assassination attempts.
According to the whistleblower’s account, the Secret Service told Trump’s campaign that they “did not have sufficient assets” to safely cover the rally, leading to its cancellation. This contradicts earlier assurances from the Secret Service, which had publicly stated that Trump was receiving the same level of protection as President Joe Biden.
Trump has faced multiple assassination attempts, including one in Florida where a would-be assassin reportedly waited for hours to ambush him at a golf course. Secret Service agents intervened before any shots were fired, but the incident has underscored growing concerns about Trump’s safety.
Hawley said the whistleblower’s report is alarming and may indicate deeper issues within the Secret Service’s handling of Trump’s protection. This is not the first time security concerns have been raised. An earlier whistleblower alleged that the Secret Service failed to address security gaps at one of Trump’s golf courses, allowing an attacker to remain on the grounds for 12 hours.
The cancellation of the Wisconsin rally comes as the Department of Justice recently made public a manifesto from one of Trump’s would-be attackers, who offered a $150,000 bounty for anyone willing to “complete the job.”
With security concerns mounting, questions are being raised about how safe it is for Trump to hold public rallies, especially as threats against him continue to increase.
