Yet another link to the Golden Age of Hollywood has left us.
Kathryn Crosby, wife of entertainment legend Bing Crosby, has died.
She was 90 years old
She’s Gone
Crosby’s widow reportedly died from natural causes on Friday in California.
Crosby was born Olive Kathryn Grandstaff, a Texas native.
When she started her acting career, she changed her name to Kathryn Grant.
The early days of her film career were littered with uncredited roles until she finally made the credits in “Cell 2455, Death Row” in 1955.
During that time, she was also writing a column for her hometown paper about Hollywood, which led to Kathryn interviewing Bing Crosby.
The two were smitten with each other almost immediately, which led to them being married in 1957.
During this time, Kathryn’s film career started to blossom, appearing in roughly a dozen films and a handful of TV shows, including “The 7th Voyage of Sinbad.”
Kathryn eventually switched gears, appearing less and less in films and TV while pursuing a nursing and teaching career.
She still took an occasional role and continued to do stage acting, most notably the 1996 revival of “State Fair” on Broadway.
Bing Crosby died in 1977, leaving her with their three children and a house full of grandchildren.
Kathryn’s last credited role was in 2010’s “Queen of the Lot,” 31 years after her previous credit.
Rest in peace, but we can take solace in the fact you are once again with Bing.
