Edgard Leblanc Fils, president of Haiti’s transitional council, was speaking before the UN General Assembly Thursday when he had an embarrassing moment.
Fils first spoke to world leaders on the gang violence that is ravaging the country, with Port-au-Prince hosting an ongoing gang war between two opposing groups. He voiced his distress at how many people are fleeing the area due to the unrest from unchecked aggression before turning his attention to the recent stories on Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. Concerned that Haitians around the world may face prejudice as a result of these stories, Fils began fielding questions as he tried to drink some water.
Instead of pouring himself a glass, Fils attempted to drink directly from the pitcher and ended up spilling water all over himself.
