Just the Iceberg: Foreign Influence in the United States
Yesterday evening, a bombshell news story broke about New York Mayor Eric Adams. According to numerous media outlets, a grand jury indicted Mayor Eric Adams related to criminal charges from a federal investigation. Adams is set to become New York City’s first sitting mayor to face criminal charges while in office.
Immediately after the announcement of the indictment, Adams proclaimed his innocence to media outlet New York Post:
“I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and my spirit. If I’m charged, I know I am innocent … That fight has continued as your mayor. Despite our police, when the federal government did nothing as its broken immigration policies overloaded our shelter system with no relief, I put the people of New York before party and politics.”
Interestingly enough, Adams is claiming that the Biden-Harris administration is targeting him over his criticism of the administration’s “open border” immigration policies.
We will have to wait and see the validity of Adams’s claims in the coming times. However, I want to point out that the more interesting side of the story: Eric Adams’s alleged foreign ties.
According to reports, the federal investigation and charges against Mayor Adams likely have to do with his suspected ties to multiple foreign governments–particularly Turkey. As recently as November 2023, FBI was already investigating Adams over alleged illegal foreign contributions during his 2021 mayoral campaign.
In fact, Newsmax and other outlets reported that Adams may have received campaign donations donations from individuals connected to the Turkish government:
“FBI agents searched the home of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ chief election campaign fundraiser, Brianna Suggs, on Thursday, and she was questioned by public corruption investigators, city officials and local media reported.
The New York Times, citing a search warrant, reported that the early morning raid was part of a federal investigation into whether Adam’s 2021 mayoral campaign conspired with a Brooklyn construction company and the Turkish government to funnel foreign money into the campaign through a straw donor scheme.“
Oddly enough, Mayor Adams publicly revealed his close ties to Turkey during last year’s investigation revelations. He even admitted that he helped open up the Turkish consulate in New York City in 2021. Not a great look.
The circumstantial evidence against Adams is fairly signficant, but there is still plenty of information that we don’t know.
Former Republican NYC mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa and political commentator Raheem Kassam both sounded off on Adams’s alleged foreign corruption. Both men are some of the only major political figures pointing out Adams’s potential, concerning ties to foreign regimes.
In recent years, the American public has had to endure numerous scandals regarding American politicians and their connections to foreign regimes and individuals. I may write another article here on RVIVR on that specfic topic. But on a broader note, we can safely assume that a decent amount of major American poltiical figures are in the pockets of foreign governemtns and foreign interest groups.
Just look at some of the ludicrous lobbying activity that foreign governments undertake in Washington DC. My own former Congressman David Vitter is a registered agent under FARA and has lobbied on behalf of Zimbawbe, Libya, and Chinese surveillance company Hikvision.
The Eric Adams story is just the “tip of the iceberg” when it comes to foreign influence in American politics. Our globalist regime and both major political parties are certainly compromised when it comes to foreign interests. Only true “America First” patriots in government can rid our nation of this foul foreign influence.
