Arizona Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake’s daughter was attacked while she was at Arizona State University on Wednesday registering voters.
Ruby Halperin, who is executive director of Turning Point Action, had a beverage thrown at her by an unknown liberal, per The Western Journal. She posted about the incident on X.
“As I was registering voters today at ASU, a radical leftist threw their whole beverage on me and ran away. THIS IS THE LEFT. They know we are winning this election and it scares them,” she wrote, including images of the aftermath.
In an interview with the Arizona Globe, the 21-year-old shared her shock and anger about the incident and admitted that it filled her with pride to be part of the generation that will “put America First.”
“Today, while I was registering voters at ASU, a radical leftist threw a drink at me and ran away. I was shocked, then a little bit angry, but now, I’m proud. Because I realized that this means they know they’re losing,” she told the outlet.
“This isn’t about my mom. This isn’t about President Trump. This is about us, the young generation, breaking free from all of the liberal indoctrination we’ve been receiving, thinking for ourselves, and proudly declaring that we’re ready to put America First.”
Halperin also said that she wouldn’t let the incident “intimidate” or stop her from working “ten times harder” to ensure that the Republican Party is victorious.
A representative with the university said that it is “looking into” the incident.
In an X post, Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk shared his disgust about the incident.
“This is a crime. You can’t interfere with people registering to vote. Whoever did this needs to be identified and held accountable,” he wrote.
In her own post, Lake called out the mainstream media for not covering the incident and pointed out the left’s hypocrisy.
“Where is the news media in giving this coverage?? If the tables were turned and a young Democrat was registering other students to vote and a Republican poured a bottle of soda on that Democrat student the news media would be ALL OVER THIS. Shame on the compromised Arizona news media,” she wrote.
In a separate post, Lake said that the attack on her daughter was a sign that the left feels threatened.
“They know that they are losing the young vote because young Americans know their future is on the line and it’s the America First Republican party that wants to make their future great again,” she wrote.
Lake gained national attention when she ran for the Arizona governor’s race in 2022, where she lost to Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs. She won her primary for the Senate race and will face Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego in November.
