Some of the biggest news in the political world recently has been the alleged infidelity of failed Democratic presidential candidate turned Trump team member RFK Jr..
According to FoxNews, “‘The View’ co-hosts called out a ‘conflict of interest’ in New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi’s reported ‘personal relationship’ with former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. on Monday, suggesting that the young journalist had ‘a lot more to lose.'”
RFK Jr. has been under heavy scrutiny since joining Trump’s team because of a string of alleged affairs and mistresses. Some Republicans are finding it interesting that liberals never voiced these concerns about Kennedy back when he was a Democrat.
Anna Navarro lets it fly
It didn’t take long for the panel on “The View” to give their opinions. Co-host Ana Navarro started it off.
“It was unethical, and it, kind of, now puts all her writings in a different perspective. And they’re going through them with a fine tooth comb to see if they see any conflict of interest. That’s the issue that she was covering. The issue here is conflict of interest. That she was covering the presidential campaign while writing pieces. And the question is, because she was having this relationship, is there a conflict of interest,” Navarro said.
“He’s had a long, long record of philandering for many decades. His wife knows it and seems to be okay with it. So, like, what are the consequences for him?,” she continued.
Based on that, it would seem as though Navarro is more worried about how the two main characters in this story, Olivia Nuzzi and RFK Jr., are being treated as a result of the truth coming out. She’s less concerned with the fact that there was an affair and more worried about how it’s being portrayed.
“The truth is, Olivia, who I also know and think is extremely talented, had a lot more to lose in this. And she is losing it. You know, the magazine right now is conducting a review and an investigation of the situation,” Navarro added.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin jumps in
It didn’t take long for the other hosts to jump in and offer their opinions. Alyssa Farah Griffin blamed sexism for why it seemed as though Nuzzi was getting more negative attention than RFK Jr. for the scandal.
“She’s considered a world-class journalist. She’s young, but she’s one of the best profile writers. That piece she wrote of RFK was scathing – she didn’t pull punches. I agree it blurred ethical lines. I don’t agree with what she did. I think she will acknowledge it and take responsibility, but every time I see a headline that says ‘Olivia Nuzzi scandal,’ no RFK scandal,” Griffin said.
Griffin is blaming America’s men for this issue:
“It goes back to the sexism we fall into. I think that men need to bear a little more responsibility in this.”
Sarah Haines seemed a little bit more willing to understand why RFK Jr. wasn’t taking too much heat from this story specifically. She thinks it’s because RFK Jr. is dealing with multiple scandals at once, which lessens the spotlight on each one.
“I get the optics problem. This was her beat and she did this,” Haines said of Nuzzi.
