President Joe Biden and his handlers may have called a time-out on the traditional Super Bowl interview again this year but the deteriorating Democrat had a gameday message for Americans in the form of a brief scripted message about shrinkflation.
Considering Biden’s mental misfires and memory lapses it’s understandable why even a softball sit-down with a non-adversarial CBS News talking head is too risky in an election year but subbing it out with a lecture from the geriatric leader reminding Americans of their diminished purchasing power since he took office is a bit of a head-scratcher, even if he does blame it on corporations and manufacturers.
While you were Super Bowl shopping, did you notice smaller-than-usual products where the price stays the same?
Folks are calling it Shrinkflation and it means companies are giving you less for every dollar you spend.

“It’s Super Bowl Sunday,” Biden pointed out. “And if you’re anything like me, you like to be surrounded by a snack or two while watching the big game.”
“You know, when buying snacks for the game you might have noticed one thing,” he continued. “Sports drinks bottles are smaller, bag of chips has fewer chips but they’re still charging us just as much.”
“As an ice cream lover what makes me most angry is that ice cream cartons have actually shrunk in size but not in price,” Biden said. “I’ve had enough of what they call shrinkflation. It’s a rip-off. Some companies are trying to pull a fast one by shrinking the products little by little and hoping you won’t notice.”
“Give me a break. The American public is tired of being played for suckers,” he declared. “I’m calling on companies to put a stop to this. Let’s make sure businesses do the right thing. Now.”
Biden’s spot which runs less than a minute makes his declining to sit for the interview all the more conspicuous and a scripted video won’t convince anyone that he’s still as sharp as the proverbial tack no matter how much that his surrogates insist that’s so.
Biden and his Super Bowl Sunday shrinkflation PSA drew mockery and ridicule from X users.
“I did not predict leaning into the aging issue with an Andy-Rooney-on-quaaludes rant about how chip bags used to be fuller,” wrote conservative author and commentator Mary Katharine Ham.

The lack of self-awareness here is truly remarkable!

“We need to put something out there to reassure everyone that Biden’s age isn’t an issue.”

Shrinkflation is why you have been claiming prices and cost of living are lower than ever.

“Shrinkflation” is a direct result of ‘Bidenomics’.

What a pathetic attempt to “feel our pain” when it comes to skyrocketing prices at the grocery store.
Hey Joe, you’ve got so much time to worry about the size of my kid’s Snickers bar- how about you focus on the invasion at our southern border. https://t.co/Cncdp7bmd5

The president is certainly on the mark that shrinkflation is a rip-off but it pales in comparison to the inflation that has been squeezing Americans with one top economist breaking down how much more that some common items for Super Bowl parties have risen in price during Biden’s presidency.
“But the persistent inflation of the past three years extended the financial burden…affecting the way fans plan to experience one of America’s most iconic sporting events.”

American Institute for Economic Research Senior Economist for Dr. Peter Earle detailed how expensive that it has become to attend the game in person with tickets at Allegiant Stadium fetching up to $107,000 on Stubhub but average cost for food items has also skyrocketed – like just about everything else under the sun since Biden took up residence in the White House.
Citing figures from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics comparing average prices from December 2019 to Dec 2023: Potato chips are up 41.40 percent, chocolate chip cookies up 42.80 percent ground beef (100% beef) is up 34.90 percent and Ice Cream 26.90 percent, among many items on a list that is less comprehensive than the selection of goods at the average grocery store where Americans have suffered sticker shock thanks to Bidenomics.
Biden’s Shrinkflation spot seems to be in line with his strategy of passing the buck for price increases to those other than himself.

“But for all we’ve done to bring prices down, there are still too many corporations in America ripping people off: price gouging, junk fees, greedflation, shrinkflation,” Biden told a crowd in South Carolina this month amid reports that he planned to attack grocers for inflation.
“Well, it’s going to stop. Americans, we’re tired of being played for suckers,” he said to applause. “And that’s why we’re going to keep these guys — keep on them and get the prices down.”
It’s been a long time since Democrat President Harry Truman famously displayed a sign reading “The buck stops here” in the White House.
“It’s the biggest television audience, not even close, and you get a chance to do a 20, 25-minute interview on that day, and you don’t do it, that’s a kind of sign that the staff or yourself doesn’t have much confidence in you. There’s no other way to read this,” veteran Democrat political consultant James Carville told CNN’s Michael Smerconish on the potential for disaster if Biden was allowed to do the traditional pregame interview.
