One thing Big Tech has working in its favor when it comes to censoring and otherwise canceling individuals who run astray of the favored viewpoints is that they are not bound by due process.
The ongoing targeting of comedian Russell Brand is just the latest example, as YouTube declared him guilty amid a wave of sexual assault allegations and has fully demonetized his channels — the alleged incidents occurred between 2006 and 2013 and were exposed in a joint investigation by the Times of London, The Sunday Times and Channel 4 Dispatches.
YouTube announced that it has suspended Brand from its platform for violating its “creator responsibility policy.”
“If a creator’s off-platform behavior harms our users, employees or ecosystem, we take action to protect the community,” the Google-owned platform said, according to The New York Times.

Brand released a video on Friday denouncing the claims while noting there was a “time of promiscuity” in his life, but insisted the encounters during that time were “always consensual.”
“Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute,” he said in the video.
One woman accused Brand of raping her in his Los Angeles home in 2012 and reportedly provided medical records confirming that she had been treated at a rape crisis center. Another woman claimed that when she was just 16, Brand forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Brand’s real crime may be that he not only blasted the mainstream media earlier this year, claiming it “serves the government rather than the public they were set up to inform,” but dared to speak ill of Big Pharma and the military-industrial complex.
“The media is obsessed with itself. It’s in a sort of narcissistic spiral, reporting on its own perspectives, its own heroes, and its own villains,” he said in response to Tucker Carlson being ousted from Fox News. “What is the mainstream media supposed to be for? Just for a moment, remind yourself that it’s actually about giving you information about important stuff like how the government are governing, about how corporations are behaving, the information that you need to live your life efficiently and effectively so you’re informed politically,”
“It doesn’t do that. You know it doesn’t do that. You know that the mainstream media is owned by certain corporate interests,” Brand continued. “You know that it gets all of its revenue from, like, the pharmaceutical industry. You know that they’re tied up with the military-industrial complex. And you know that they support the state with only partisan distinctions between this party or that party defining their output. They do not serve in your awakening. They do not serve your empowerment.”
It remains to be seen when the next shoe drops — Brand has 3.8 million subscribers on Instagram, 11.2 million followers on Twitter, which is now called X, and 1.4 million followers on Rumble.
