What was once considered common sense for most of human history is now officially law in Kansas as the state has prohibited the change of a resident’s gender on a birth certificate, following a legal battle between the attorney general and the state’s agencies, the state health department said Friday.
Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach won a lawsuit to stop state agencies from allowing gender changes on state documents, which was previously allowed.
“The intent of #ksleg was clear when lawmakers passed the Women’s Bill of Rights. KS birth certificates are state records that must reflect scientific fact as recorded by the doctor at the time of birth,” Kobach wrote on X.
In other words, residents will no longer be allowed to falsify government documents and records.
The decision makes Kansas one of a handful of states that won’t change transgender people’s birth certificates. It already was among the few states that don’t change gender driver’s licenses, according to the Associated Press.
If the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) previously changed a birth certificate to align with someone’s “gender identity,” it is still valid; however, if a certified copy of that record is requested, then the new copy must reflect the sex assigned at birth.
I think that every birth certificate that was falsely changed should be replaced and corrected but I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Senate Bill 180 is the legislation that was passed in February that was dubbed the “Women’s Bill of Rights.” The law declared several official definitions for words such as “sex,” “female,” and “male.”
“Sex” is defined as an “individual’s biological sex, either male or female, at birth.” And male and female are defined by biology.
The law also required that distinctions between the sexes be made in “other areas where biology, safety, or privacy are implicated that result in separate accommodations,” including athletics, prisons, locker rooms, and restrooms.
The fact that we even need to pass laws defining what a male and female are is insanity.
LGBTQ-rights advocates say that the measure was designed “to legally erase transgender people’s identities and urged them to change their driver’s licenses and birth certificates before it took effect” according to PBS.
The whole premise that one can change their birth certificate is so stupid and transgender ideology even relies on the fact that their ‘gender does not align with their sex assigned at birth.’
Why would they need to change their birth certificates if that is their alleged proof where the true problem lies? The whole argument relies on inconsistent illogical stances that even they don’t believe.
Transgenderism is an attempt to change language and destroy meaning. That’s the only reason why they would want to change legal documents.
Although it is embarrassing that we even need to define these sorts of things legally, what Kansas did here is obviously the right thing to do. Policy changes should only be addressed after it is recognized by lawmakers that gender ideology is false, which it obviously is.
