EXCLUSIVE — Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting information on an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua who crashed into a police officer in Virginia while drunk.
On Aug. 19, while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, Yacarely Diaz-Castro crashed her vehicle into a Chesapeake police officer conducting a traffic stop, according to local reports. The officer suffered several serious injuries, including a fractured skull and a C6 vertebrae fracture.
She was charged with DUI maiming, driving without a license, and failing to move over for a stationary vehicle with warning lights.
Diaz-Castro, an illegal alien who said she has only been in the United States for about 7 months, claimed she had been given a “notice to report” form by DHS. Reportedly, she was not even licensed to drive a vehicle.
A GoFundMe account set up to help the wounded officer, Daniel Torres-Alegre, has raised over $25,000.
“An illegal alien from Nicaragua, who was already known to @DHSgov, crashed into a police officer in Virginia while drunk last month, nearly killing him. I’m demanding answers from @SecMayorkas on how many law enforcement officers and first responders have been injured by illegal aliens under his and Joe Biden’s watch. ” Gaetz announced.
