New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan has yet to say that former President Donald Trump can attend his son Barron Trump’s high school graduation, refusing to rule on the former president’s request to not attend the trial that specific day for that event.
Monday was the start of the criminal trial at the hands of Democrat Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who charged Trump with 34 felonies, accusing him of falsifying business records in relation to payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels. As Breitbart News pointed out, Trump is not being accused of “covering up a sex scandal.” Trump has denied all charges against him, but, if convicted, he could face jail time.
While jury selection has begun in the criminal trial, Trump’s attorneys are looking ahead and have requested that Trump be able to skip the trial on May 17 so he can attend his son Barron’s high school graduation, which is taking place in his home state of Florida. According to Business Insider, Merchan has acknowledged the request but has refused to make a ruling.
“It really depends on if we are on time and where we are in the trial,” Merchan reportedly stated.
Trump spoke to reporters as the first day of the court proceedings wrapped up on Monday, and voiced his outrage, saying the whole thing is a scam.
In addition to potentially missing his son’s high school graduation, Trump also will not be allowed to attend the Supreme Court case on his presidential immunity next Thursday, April 25.

In a post on his Truth Social page, Trump wrote Monday afternoon:
Who will explain for me, to my wonderful son, Barron, who is a GREAT Student at a fantastic School, that his Dad will likely not be allowed to attend his Graduation Ceremony, something that we have been talking about for years, because a seriously Conflicted and Corrupt New York State Judge wants me in Criminal Court on a bogus “Biden Case” which, according to virtually all Legal Scholars and Pundits, has no merit, and should NEVER have been brought.
This Fake Case is solely meant to attack Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, ME, who is seriously leading him in the Polls, for purposes of Election Interference.
The Judge, Juan Merchan, is preventing me from proudly attending my son’s Graduation. Seems very unfair, doesn’t it? But this whole event is unfair. Every one of the many Fake Cases that are perpetuated by the White House in order to help the Worst President in History, by far, get Re-Elected, are UNJUST SCAMS. We won’t let that happen, but we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
Trump’s two eldest sons have reacted in outrage.
“Pure evil,” declared Donald Trump Jr.

“This is how disgusting the Biden Trial has become. Not even letting the President attend his son’s high school graduation. Nothing but a political attack.,” declared Trump advisor Jason Miller.

Many supporters on social media are saying Trump should just go to his son’s graduation anyway.
“I hope Trump chooses to go to Barron’s high school graduation in defiance of Judge Merchan’s BS order to attend court every day. Arrest him. I DARE YOU! See how that galvanizes everyone in support of Trump,” one person wrote.
