A top star in the National Hockey League (NHL) announced absolutely heartbreaking news this week regarding his wife’s pregnancy.
According to Daily Mail, Boone Jenner, the captain of NHL team Columbus Blue Jackets, along with his wife, Maggie, took to social media to announce that their son was stillborn.
Maggie had carried their son for eight months before the nightmare scenario unfolded for the couple.
The two, who’ve been married since last July after getting engaged the year prior, released a heartbreaking and touching statement on Instagram regarding the stillbirth of their son, Dawson Jenner.
“We are at a loss for words. A pain like no other. Our son, Dawson Jenner was stillborn on March 31st, 2024 🕊️ While this pain is like nothing we’ve experienced before, it’s also shown us the immense love we have to give,” they wrote.
They continued, “As heartbroken as we are, we are incredibly grateful to be his parents and look forward to holding him again one day in heaven.”
“We are thankful and feel blessed for the outpouring of love and support from our family and friends. We appreciate everyone respecting our privacy as we navigate this extremely difficult time. Love, the Jenners.”

Boone Jenner is a major fixture in Columbus sports, as he’s played his entire NHL career for the Blue Jackets. He was drafted in 2011, and became captain of the team in 2021.
Social media tributes poured in for the couple from all corners — from teammates to media outlets to adoring fans across the globe, all wishing them the strength and faith they need during such difficult time.
“Absolutely awful news. Boone Jenner & his wife Maggie announced on Instagram that their son, Dawson Jenner, was stillborn on March 31. Our thoughts are with the Jenner’s in this extremely difficult time,” hockey writer Mark Scheig wrote on X.
Another X user wrote, “I’m heartbroken for Boone Jenner, his wife, and their family. Sending light and love to them ❤️ such gut-wrenching news.”
Daily Mail noted that stillbirths can occur for a variety of reasons, many of which are still unknown by doctors.
“Stillbirths do not always have an obvious cause but may occur due to complications with the placenta or a birth defect,” it wrote.
