Big Pharma was often viewed with skepticism by the Left.
Then Democrats began screaming at people who did not take the COVID vaccine.
And Jillian Michaels went off on experts hiding the truth about one “miracle” drug.
The pharmaceutical industry has made untold billions off the COVID vaccine even though its efficacy has been questioned greatly.
Now a new wonder drug is being mass-marketed: Ozempic.
The new thing
The drug is supposed to help fight obesity-related diseases like Type 2 diabetes.
However, Ozempic appears to have been oversold to the masses.
Health Reporter Sumathi Reddy wrote in The Wall Street Journal that “[b]ehind the blockbuster success of drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy is a less-noticed phenomenon: Some people don’t lose much weight on them. There is wide variation in weight loss on these types of drugs, called GLP-1s. Doctors say roughly 10% to 15% of people who try them are ‘non-responders,’ typically defined as those who lose less than 5% of their body weight. These patients, doctors say, don’t experience enough appetite reduction to result in significant weight loss.”
Not only is a sizable portion of users not experiencing “significant weight loss” but the side effects have been minimized.
Fitness guru Jillian Michaels explained during a conversation with Bill Maher on his Club Random podcast.

Big marketing push
Meanwhile, people like Oprah Winfrey are pushing the drug hard, which has been part of a strategy to shift obesity away from being a self-control issue.
Former Big Pharma insider Calley Means told Tucker Carlson, “They’re saying, how can we actually say obesity is not your fault. Oprah, who’s involved with WeightWatchers, just apologized for preaching personal accountability over the past decades. She said it’s not personal accountability. We’re supporting Ozempic.”
Carlson asked, “You think Oprah got paid?”
Means replied, “She’s highly involved with WeightWatchers. Yeah, WeightWatchers has shifted from a personal accountability organization that it’s been, preaching for decades and is now a prescriber of Ozempic, but they’ve totally changed because Ozempic is a better business model because you never go off of it.”
Obesity is definitely a serious problem in the United States, but getting people on a drug that must be taken in perpetuity does not seem like the wisest strategy to solve it.
In fact, the biggest comorbidity during COVID was obesity, but people who were preaching exercise were considered heretics.
Drug companies produce many life-saving medications, but people should remain vigilant about them.
