I have to admit, this was a report that I was not expecting to see.
Trump attorney Timothy Parlatore, a key player in the Trump’s Mar-a-Lago defense, has decided to resign from Trump’s legal team.
He said all the right things walking out the door, but the optics on this are going to make some people’s stomach turn.
My Work Here is Done
Parlatore stated, “It’s been an incredible honor to serve and work through interesting legal issues. My departure was a personal choice and does not reflect upon the case, as I believe strongly the (Justice Department) team is engaging in misconduct to pursue an investigation of conduct that is not criminal.”
I just have to think with the profile of this case, if everything was going smoothly, he would be hanging on. A win in this case would be monumental for his legal profile, so I just don’t understand why he is leaving before the case is settled.
Parlatore was one of the attorneys the Partisan Department of Justice was targeting for testimony several months ago.
At the time, he stated, “They repeatedly tried to ask me about my conversations with President Trump, which is totally outside the scope of what I was there for.”
Trump has always claimed this was a setup, and did so again during his recent Fake News CNN Town Hall.
He stated, “When we left Washington, we had the boxes lined up on the sidewalk outside for everybody. People are taking pictures of them. Everybody knew we were taking those boxes.”
Trump did stumble a bit on the subject, however, when he was asked if he had ever shown anyone any of the classified documents. Trump answered, “Not really. … Not — not that I can think of.”
That should have been a firm and absolute “NO,” so it is probably a safe bet that someone got an eyeful of them at some point.
This is one of a handful of legal problems that remain on Trump’s docket that could cause a problem for him moving forward.
