William Pope, the defendant in the proceeding before US District Judge Rudolph Contreras, is attempting to discover the tapes in question. It has angered the prosecution, which contends that “unmasking” the footage will put police officers in danger.
“Three D.C. Metropolitan Police Dept undercover operatives served as provocateurs near the northwest steps of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021,” according to court documents from a federal prosecutor.
“The admission was made in a court document made on March 24 in an effort to keep the police-shot video under court seal. U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras was the recipient of the filing.”
“The defendant in the case, William Pope of Topeka, Kansas, was charged by the prosecution of making an “illegitimate” attempt to reveal the video as part of his purported plan to get the case covered by the media. On February 21, Pope submitted a motion to lift the court’s embargo.”
According to Deputy U.S. Attorney Kelly Moran, “The defendant is not entitled to ‘undesignate’ these videos in order to disseminate them with countless third parties. The government has satisfied its obligation to demonstrate the need for the protective order, and his wish to present his case in the media rather than a court of law is unlawful.”
What exactly are the videos? There are three officers participating, one of them explicitly implores the throng on the northwest steps to approach the Capitol in a portion of footage that has surfaced on Rumble. Surprisingly, they even join in with the chants of the demonstrators.
“Officer 1 joined in on the cries of “Drain the swamp!” repeatedly. Also “Our house! Our house, please.”
“A protester chanting Joe Biden!” may be seen in the video a little closer to the Capitol. “We want to hear what you have to say, you pedophile satanist!”
“A short while later, Officer 1 joined the shout of “USA!” and repeated it five times with the crowd.”
“Someone had placed a portion of a bicycle rack against the balustrade at the bottom of the northwest stairwell. Officer 1 yelled, C’mon, man, let’s go! as a protester ascended the improvised ladder. Leave that nonsense.”
Officer 1 received assistance from a protester by climbing up the stairwell’s balustrade. Then he yelled, “C’mon, go, go, go!” as he surveyed the folks ascending the stairway.
“Officer 1 repeatedly yelled, Keep moving! to get the mob to continue up the steps. Go ahead! and Go ahead, go ahead, come on!”
Several times in these recordings, the officer and the two other plainclothes officers with him seem to join the people nearby in cries like “drain the swamp,” “U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A.,” and “Whose house? “Our house!”
Further proof that January 6th was the result of confusion rather than a well-planned scheme to topple the government may be found in this. When police officers are urging demonstrators forward, that gives them some sort of permission to move forward and into the Capitol Building. In other words, as many defendants have asserted in court processes, the protestors (I’m referring primarily to those who did not go violent) thought that the police were on their side and that they were not breaching the law
