While a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump still looms, the political witch hunt part of the ridiculous case appears as if it’s headed for a major backfire situation.
According to a Breitbart exclusive, the latest polling shows that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s attempt to hamstring Trump, a 2024 presidential candidate, is not working out as he presumably planned.
Trump, and his supporters, including a number GOP lawmakers, have long said that Bragg’s case is not only weak, but it’s nothing more than political theater.
Some have even suggested that it’s Bragg’s attempt to build political street cred for a possible future New York gubernatorial run.
That being said, the numbers coming out of the latest poll are looking quite humiliating for the Manhattan DA.
Convention of States Action in conjunction with the Trafalgar Group ran the poll, providing Breitbart an exclusive look at the numbers, said to be the first since the former president announced earlier this month that he anticipates an indictment and possible arrest.
“New @trafalgar_group/@COSProject poll (3/20-22) reveals 74.3% of #Americans think a potential #TrumpIndictment would help or not affect his campaign. Only 25.7% think it would hurt,” The Trafalgar Group tweeted.

The poll isn’t the first to indicate that Bragg’s case, if it hasn’t already completely fallen apart, will do nothing but boost Trump in his attempt to reclaim the White House. Many pundits, including left-leaning commentators, believe the same.
Among Democrats, more than 57 percent believe an indictment would either not affect or help Trump’s campaign — 42.5 percent think it will have no effect and 14.8 percent think it will help him — while just 42.7 percent say it will hurt him.
“It’s obvious to the majority of Americans that former President Trump is being hounded by a politically motivated witch hunt designed to discredit him in order to render him a permanent pariah in American politics,” Mark Meckler, the president of Convention of States, said.
He added: “This tactic has never worked, and these early numbers already reveal it’s going to backfire. Voters either think his indictment and arrest will either have absolutely no impact on his 2024 bid, or that it will even boost his campaign.”
There were numerous, unexplained delays in Bragg’s grand jury proceedings last week, leaving open many questions as to whether or not he still has a case.
Most believe he does not, and that could all shake out this week. Meanwhile, Trump is undoubtedly enjoying the boost.
