A top official on former President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign has flipped to a PAC urging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to enter the 2024 presidential race.
Erin Perrine, who was the press communications director for Trump’s 2020 campaign, has joined the “Never Back Down” PAC, an organization led by top Trump-era Department of Homeland Security official Ken Cuccinelli.
“Erin joining Never Back Down cements our ability to deliver our message and grow our movement effectively,” said Chris Jankowski, the PAC’s executive director. “She will play a leading role in making sure we get Governor Ron DeSantis to the White House.”
Perrine’s decision to join the PAC comes after Trump claimed on Thursday that DeSantis was “being abandoned by his most ‘loyal’ people.”
After her work on the Trump campaign, Perrine went on to serve as the communications director for Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
The top political strategist for Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, who has been rumored to be considering a campaign for the White House, also joined Never Back Down this week.

Recently, Trump reacted to a possible alliance with DeSantis in 2024. The 45th president said it was “unlikely.”
“No, I think that would be a very unlikely alliance,” Trump told Newsmax.
“We have a lot of great people in the Republican Party. I’ve never thought of it, but, you know, some people every once in a while mention it, but that’s about it,” he continued.
“I appointed him,” Trump said. “He was failing badly in the polls. He was out of politics. He was going to be out of politics, and I endorsed him, and he went from a very small number to a very high number. I had rallies for Ron, and we got him in. Then a couple of years later, they said, ‘Would you run against the president for president?’ He said, ‘I have no comment.’ I said, ‘That’s not supposed to happen.’”
