Tara Reade, a former Senate aide who came forward in accused Joe Biden of sexual assault in March 2020, just posted on social media this week that she wants to testify before Congress.
Reade, 60, served as an aide in Joe Biden’s office during the time he was a U.S. Senator. In March 2020, while Biden was already the Democratic Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, Reade alleged that in 1993, Biden pinned her against a wall and sexually assaulted her. She would have been about 29 at the time.
Reade had first spoken with multiple reporters in early 2019 and accused Biden of inappropriate touching, saying he put his hands on her shoulder, neck, and hair during meetings in ways that made her uncomfortable. She said when she complained to her superiors in the office, she was told to dress more conservatively.
Then Reade shared more details in the spring of 2020, as she described the alleged sexual assault by Biden. Biden has denied the allegations, saying in a 2020 MSNBC interview, “unequivocally, it never, never happened. It didn’t. It never happened.”
Multiple liberal media outlets dismissed Reade’s claims, noting that “no ex-Biden staffer has come forward to say they ever witnessed or heard about any kind of sexual misconduct in his Senate office.”
In 2023 Reade defected to Russia, saying she had received death threats in the United States.
Late Wednesday night, Reade posted the following statement on her X/Twitter account:
In 1993, Joe Biden ( my former boss) sexually assaulted me at work. I lost everything coming forward. No investigation to date. I want to testify remotely before Congress about the weaponized Biden DOJ/FBI to silence me and other Americans.
