Joe Biden’s border crisis is wreaking havoc across the country.
But few have seen the horrors firsthand.
And a top DeSantis official spoke three shocking words after a trip to the border.
Florida has been standing shoulder to shoulder with Texas since President Joe Biden created the border crisis in 2021.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has sent resources to help Texas secure its border as part of the state’s border security mission, Operation Lone Star.
One of the top officials in DeSantis’ cabinet traveled to the border to see the chaos that was unfolding there.
Florida official describes horror at the border
Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis oversees the Sunshine State’s National Guard troops and law enforcement that have deployed to Texas to assist Operation Lone Star.
He went to the Texas-Mexico border to observe the situation on the ground firsthand.
What he saw there left him stunned.
“One of the things that was . . . just so horrifying to me was the numbers when it came to human trafficking and drugs,” Patronis told the Washington Examiner. “I had no idea how much was coming across the border that had been seized in drugs through this effort of managing and working the border.”

Florida and Texas are being forced to step up because the Biden administration refuses to secure the border.
“It just breaks my heart that there’s just such a blindness at a federal level to what’s taking place there,” Patronis lamented.
States filling the void left by the Biden administration
Florida was the first state to send assistance to Texas in 2021, but 25 other Republican-led states followed by 2023.
Operation Lone Star has seized more than 460 million doses of fentanyl, which made it past federal authorities.
And the state-led effort has interdicted nearly half a million illegal aliens who dodged the Border Patrol.
“The Governor has taken some hits on this,” Patronis said. “I think it’s important to let them know that I’m proud to sign the check to fund those operations.”
Patronis traveled to the border town of Eagle Pass, which made headlines after the Biden administration took Texas to the U.S. Supreme Court to remove the razor wire that was placed there.
Border crossings have shifted away from the town because of the efforts of Operation Lone Star.
“In the case of Eagle Pass, there were thousands every day that were crossing right there. So now, there is a very significant force presence there at Eagle Pass,” Patronis said. “In some days, less than 100 a day will try to cross, so now what’s happening is they’ve moved — those human traffickers, those players in that space. It’s obvious Eagle Pass is not a place [where] they can take [migrants] to cross anymore.”
Patronis said that Florida was repaying the help Texas had provided the state during hurricanes.
“Florida — we’re still standing firm with our support of Texas. Texas has been good to us when it’s come time for our natural disasters, pushing out resources, dealing with hurricanes,” Patronis said. “This is us repaying the favor, but also hopefully putting a kibosh on as much as we can of allowing any of these illegals [aliens] to come into the state of Florida.”
The challenging work of Texas and Florida is paying off in Eagle Pass.
