Former President Donald Trump blasted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg in a pair of statements on his Truth Social account Thursday morning.
Bragg has reportedly been considering whether to indict Trump over allegations surrounding a $130,000 “hush money” payment which Trump’s then-lawyer Michael Cohen made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016, just weeks prior to the November 2016 election.
Cohen has claimed Trump requested the payment be made to Daniels.
However, on Wednesday Trump posted a copy of a letter dated Feb. 8, 2018, which was written to the FEC by Stephen Ryan, an attorney for Cohen. The letter clearly states:
In a private transaction in 2016, before the U.S. presidential election, Mr. Cohen used his own personal funds to facilitate a payment of $130,000 to Ms. Stephanie Clifford. Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly.
In a fiery, all-caps post, Trump wrote:
WHY WON’T BRAGG DROP THIS CASE? EVERYBODY SAYS THERE IS NO CRIME HERE. I DID NOTHING WRONG! IT WAS ALL MADE UP BY A CONVICTED NUT JOB WITH ZERO CREDIBILITY, WHO HAS BEEN DISPUTED BY HIGHLY RESPECTED PROFESSIONALS AT EVERY TURN.
BRAGG REFUSES TO STOP DESPITE OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY. HE IS A SOROS BACKED ANIMAL WHO JUST DOESN’T CARE ABOUT RIGHT OR WRONG NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE HURT. THIS IS NO LEGAL SYSTEM, THIS IS THE GESTAPO, THIS IS RUSSIA AND CHINA, BUT WORSE. DISGRACEFUL!
In a second post, Trump added:
EVERYBODY KNOWS I’M 100% INNOCENT, INCLUDING BRAGG, BUT HE DOESN’T CARE. HE IS JUST CARRYING OUT THE PLANS OF THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS. OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED, AS THEY TELL US TO BE PEACEFUL!
Meanwhile, for the second day in a row, the Manhattan grand jury has delayed a meeting regarding the Trump case.
The panel is reportedly now scheduled to reconvene to consider the case on Monday.
