A 20-year-old Massachusetts man has been arrested after his 17-year-old girlfriend was found dead in his home.
Stow police said they were called to a home in the town at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday for a well-being check, WCVB reported. They were met by Shane Curry, who refused to let officers inside for about two hours.
When he finally let them in, they found 17-year-old Navaeh Goddard dead.
Curry was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for an evalucation. He was charged with assault and battery on a household or family member and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury.
According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Goddard had been missing from Providence, Rhode Island, since April 2022. The center reported that she could be still in Rhode Island or in Massachusetts.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said additional charges are possible after an autopsy determines the cause and manner of Goddard’s death. Curry is set to be arraigned on the current charges on Monday, Boston 25 said.
