Lara Trump is done with having to “catch up” to Democrats.
As the newly elected co-chair of the Republican National Committee, Trump has vowed that legal ballot harvesting will be a “huge” part of the Republican National Committee’s strategy heading into the November presidential election.
“We’ve been playing checkers,” Trump told the Washington Examiner, “and the Democrats have been playing chess.”
“Unfortunately, we don’t have one day of voting, we don’t have paper ballots, we don’t have voter ID everywhere,” she said. “So we have to play the hand that we’re dealt.”
Many Republicans tend to vote old-school on Election Day, in person. Democrats, unsurprisingly, favor early voting and mail-in ballots. As a result, Democrats are always a step ahead on Election Day.
To remedy that, Trump stressed the importance of voting early and putting their ballots in the post.
“That way, we have votes banked as we head into Election Day, and we’re not playing catch up on Nov. 5 with the Democrats.” she reasoned.
“We need to be doing legal ballot harvesting — something that has never been done by the Republican National Committee,” Trump stated, “but I can promise you will be a huge part of what we’re planning to do.”
“And then come Election Day — and you’ll see that, I think — it’s not just about having poll watchers,” she explained. “It’s about having trained poll watchers and lawyers at locations around the country as necessary. And these are people who will be trained and able to physically count how many ballots are coming in. And how many ballots are going out.”
As Drew McKissick’s replacement, Trump’s main goal is to “have people’s trust restored in our electoral process.”
In the fundraising arena, she said the Republican National Committee is playing catch-up to the Democrats there, too.
Again, it comes down to trust.
“Truthfully, people have felt like they don’t know if/when they donate their money to the Republican National Committee, it will ultimately go to the causes that they care about,” Trump said. “I hope to be there as someone who will ensure that, indeed, every single dollar donated goes to making sure we win on Election Day — at the top of the ballot and down the ballot.”
It’s music to the ears of many frustrated Republicans. As was the reaction by conservative icon Scott Presler, who has for years been crisscrossing the nation, registering Republican voters.
“I’ve been summoned,” he wrote Sunday in response to news of Trump’s promise.
I’ve been summoned.

Presler has long been calling for Republicans to engage in legal ballot harvesting.
“Ballot harvesting is legal in New Jersey,” he wrote from the Garden State in May 2023, “— adapt or lose elections.”
Today, I’m in Mercer County, NJ.
This will be my 8th event in 8 days in 8 counties in 2 states.

A month earlier, on the other side of America, Presler reported from Linn County, “We went over voter registration & ballot harvesting. Game on, Oregon.”
Thank you, Linn County!

“Hoping Scott Presler will finally be recognized for his hard work over the years!” one X user wrote of Presler’s “summoning.”
“The man’s a hero.”
