A fifth-grade girl in Washington state was denied a request to start an interfaith prayer group at her elementary school after educators granted permission for an LGBTQ Pride club one week earlier.
Eleven-year-old Laura, a Creekside Elementary student, told “Fox News @ Night” she had felt alone in her classroom and the larger school. After speaking with friends who felt the same way, Laura pitched the idea of bringing people together and doing good in the community.
Laura claimed the interfaith prayer group welcomed all students, regardless of religion.
Although the school refused to allow the 11-year-old to start an interfaith prayer club, the same school had “actively promotes more than a dozen non-religious clubs, including a Pride Club and the Green Team,” according to First Liberty Institute, who is representing Laura.

PART 2:
A wholesome elementary schooler wants to pray with some of her classmates after school. But the principal said ‘No.’ That’s unconstitutional. First Liberty sent the school a letter letting them know it. #ReligiousFreedom #Faith #Prayer #School pic.twitter.com/zLsUWwVDt4

PART 3:
Laura just wants to pray with some of her classmates. She says faith makes her a better person. She wants to encourage her fellow students of faith to come together and make their community better. But the school said they cannot have a club to do that. We are defending Laura. pic.twitter.com/dTygJIRDvK
