Commanding General Ben Hodges, who served in the United States Army in Europe, claims that Russia would not be able to sustain the battle of attrition in Ukraine.
This coincides with the assessment of military professional Marcus M. Keupp, head honcho at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
Russian forces have been facing difficult odds in Ukraine, suffering heavy losses and equipment shortages amid an ongoing conflict with Ukrainian troops and Western military aid pouring into the country.

In an interview with German news outlet t-Online, Keupp stated that Ukrainian forces might soon gain an advantage over Russian forces in the ongoing war.
Bakhmut has been the focus of the most recent warfare, providing a clear indication of the devastating effect of a war of attrition.
With consistent financial and military aid flooding in from the West, Russian forces have faced a variety of obstacles.

In the face of increasing losses, Keupp agreed and stated that Bakhmut is a typical example of a war of attrition.
He continued to say: “The current situation in Bakhmut particularly symbolizes this fact. A look at the numbers makes this clear: In order to take the city, the Russian leadership sends out battalions in mindless frontal attacks, and the units are quickly shot up,” per Daily Star.
Hodges echoed these sentiments: “Russia is being attrited at such a rate that they may collapse before the end of this year, assuming the West delivers in time what we’ve promised. War is a test of will and logistics,” via Twitter.

Russia’s logistical setbacks, as alluded to by Hodges, are corroborated by Russia’s desperate innovations as seen in their recent release of their “Franken Tanks” and Wagner boss complaints of not receiving sufficient supplies on the front lines.
