Jeffrey Epstein was notorious for collaborating with various individuals to procure young girls for sex. However, 76-year-old modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel was believed to have linked Epstein and his associates with over a thousand potential victims.
Now, Brunel has been discovered dead, seemingly by suicide, hanging in his prison cell in La Sante, south of Paris, France. This has caused Ghislaine Maxwell‘s family to express concern for her well-being, given that both Epstein and Brunel have allegedly committed suicide while incarcerated.
Brunel’s death comes only a few days after Epstein’s known associate, 62-year-old Prince Andrew, agreed to settle the lawsuit brought forth by Virginia Roberts, who accused the prince of sexually abusing her after being introduced through Epstein and Maxwell. Though Prince Andrew settled the lawsuit, he did not confess to any guilt or admit to any wrongdoing.
Roberts claimed that Brunel had procured thousands of young girls for Epstein to assault. Brunel, Epstein’s alleged accomplice, was awaiting trial in France on charges of raping minors.
With both Epstein and Brunel dead from an apparent suicide in prison, Maxwell’s family is worried about her safety. Currently, she is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In an interview with the New York Post, Maxwell’s brother Ian expressed his shock and bewilderment at Brunel’s death. He confirmed that Maxwell is considered “a suicide risk,” despite her psychiatrist advising authorities otherwise. As a result, guards check on her every fifteen minutes, a measure her brother deems a “complete violation of prisoner rights and human rights,” as he does not believe his sister is a suicide risk.
Ian also noted the “irony” that his sister remains on suicide watch while Epstein and Brunel were not.
In December, Maxwell was found guilty of trafficking minors for Epstein’s sexual gratification. Prosecutors presented sufficient evidence to prove that Maxwell assisted Epstein in gaining access to numerous young girls and women for him to sexually abuse.
Brunel, who was alone when he died and without any cameras to record his final moments, leaves the door open for conspiracy theorists, given that both he and Epstein committed suicide instead of facing legal repercussions.
La Sante, where Brunel was held, is known as a tough prison in France. An investigating source said, “A night patrol found his lifeless body at about one am,” adding that “A judicial inquiry has been launched, and early evidence points to suicide.”
Upon learning of Brunel’s death, Roberts expressed disappointment that she would not have the opportunity to see him face the “final trial to hold him accountable.” Nevertheless, she acknowledged that his suicide “ends another chapter.”
