1 – Earthquake Kills at Least 1,600 in Turkey and Syria
The New York Times reports: More than 1,600 people have been killed in Turkey and Syria, where two powerful earthquakes and dozens of aftershocks on Monday collapsed thousands of buildings and raised the specter of a new humanitarian disaster in a region already wracked by war, a refugee crisis and deep economic troubles.

The initial magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit at 4:17 a.m. local time, according to the United States Geological Survey, and was also felt in Cyprus, Egypt, Israel and Lebanon. A second, separate 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck southeastern Turkey about nine hours later on Monday afternoon, the U.S.G.S. said.

The initial earthquake, centered near Gaziantep in south central Turkey, was the deadliest to hit the country in more than 20 years and was as strong as the tremor of 1939, the most powerful ever recorded in Turkey. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at least 912 people had been killed as search and rescue teams fanned out across the country.

2 – Non-Binary Pop Star Sam Smith Performs BDSM, Devil-Themed ‘Unholy’ at the Grammys
Breitbart reports: Pop star Sam Smith, who describes himself as non-binary, peformed a BDSM Devil-themed rendition of his song “Unholy” at the Grammys on Sunday night, complete with red leather suits, flames, and cartoonish devil horns.

Leading up to Sunday’s performance, Sam Smith promised that it would likely anger Christians and cause protests at CBS for what he described as satanic imagery. As it turns out, the imagery was just a few items of clothing removed from a Looney Tunes episode.

As Showbiz 411 reported, sources said that the performance would “make a lot of people very upset.”

“I guarantee there will be calls to CBS from outraged Christians,” a source close to Smith said.

The Grammy’s featured Sam Smith’s demonic performance and was sponsored by Pfizer.

And the Satanic Church now has an abortion clinic in NM that requires its patients to perform a satanic ritual before services.

The New York Post reports: When President Joe Biden stands before Congress and issues his State of the Union address Tuesday night, he will proclaim victory on the nation’s economy. Most Americans are going to wonder what country he’s talking about.

Yes, the jobs market is strong, and that’s good news. But sorry, Mr. President: The American economy is not strong. It isn’t even good.

The last two years have been pretty rotten on almost every metric: the squeeze on family finances, inflation, immigration, declining test scores in schools, the budget deficit and debt, out-of-control government.

Here are six fibs you’re very likely to hear the president recite Tuesday night. They should be tagged with the label of the left’s favorite word this year: “disinformation.”

1. Biden has reduced the budget deficit by $1.4 trillion.
2. Biden inherited an economy in freefall.
3. Inflation was high when Biden entered office.
4. Biden has brought down gas prices.
5. Biden is doing all he can to secure the border.
6. Biden is increasing domestic oil and gas production.

4 – Dell to lay off 6,650 workers, or 5% of its workforce
CNBC reports: Dell on Monday announced plans to lay off 5% of its workforce, or about 6,650 employees, according to an SEC filing.

The cuts at Dell come as demand for PCs and laptops has slowed globally. Global shipments of PCs were down 28% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to industry analysts at IDC. Computer shipments at Dell were down 37% for that same period, while competitors Lenovo, HP and Apple were down 28%, 29%, and 2% respectively.  Shares of Dell were up 2% in premarket trading Tuesday.

In a memo to employees, Jeff Clarke,  co-chief operating officer at Dell, said the cuts were made in an effort to “stay ahead of downturn impacts. He said the changes Dell had already implemented, like limiting travel, pausing external hiring and reducing outside services spending, were no longer sufficient.

“Unfortunately, with changes like this, some members of our team will be leaving the company,” Clarke said. “There is no tougher decision, but one we had to make for our long-term health and success.”

5 – Fauci roasted for charging massive fee for speaking engagements
Fox News reports: Dr. Anthony Fauci was chastised online on Sunday after critics discovered that the retired NIAID director, who was once the highest-paid federal U.S. government employee, is charging up to $100,000 for speaking engagements.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ rapid response director Christina Pushaw on Sunday tweeted a screenshot from the Leading Motivational Speaker’s Agency’s website, which lists Fauci as a “motivational” and “health care” keynote speaker with a price tag that ranges from $50,000 to $100,000.

The website describes Fauci as someone “who’s career warrants execution under immense pressure that can alter the course of human existence. His work on domestic as well as global health issues has saved millions of lives. This high level of research, discovery and execution is amazing given the grave challenges he faces on a daily basis,” the agency writes.
