According to commentator Dan Bongino, there’s a dark but simple reason Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) gave “the double-barreled middle finger to the entire country” — and it’s something that should greatly concern every conservative.
Buck “is an awful Republican” and has been “a terrible representative” and a “total disappointment,” according to Bongino.
“I’m not sure if this guy is just straight-up dumb, or what,” he said.
“Him leaving is going to affect the buffer majority we had, substantially,” Bongino warned. “We’re going to be down, sooner or later, to two-, maybe a one-seat majority in the House depending on what happens up in New York.”
“This is a total mess right now,” he stated.
Wanna know why Ken Buck @RepKenBuck is in such a hurry to leave his seat now, before his term is up 12/31?
It’s possible he’s part of a SWAMP-RINO plan to:
1) Give the speakership to Hakeem Jeffries.
2) F–k over Lauren Boebert.
3) Give Democrats control of the election… pic.twitter.com/1XEpSaI2zk— Mark Pukita (@mpukita) March 14, 2024
As BizPac Review reported, Buck decided on Tuesday that he’d be leaving Congress by the end of next week, earlier than he had previously stated. As a result, there will be a special election to temporarily fill his seat on June 25 — the same day as the already scheduled primary for the district.
Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert, who announced in December that she will be running in the general election for Buck’s seat rather than seek reelection to her battleground district, said she will not “further imperil the already very slim House Republican majority” by running in the special election.”
Bongino called Buck’s early departure a “huge story” and said he believes “there’s something more going on here.”
Buck, he said, “hates Republicans so much, he left Congress early to screw you over, right before an election in November.”
The former U.S. Secret Service agent and NYPD officer pointed to a Newsweek article claiming that, according to Buck, “More Republican Resignations Are Coming.”
“When asked by Axios whether he was coming under pressure from colleagues over his decision to resign,” the outlet reports, “Buck replied: ‘I think it’s the next three people that leave that they’re going to be worried about.’”
After former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Rep. Bill Johnson (R-Ohio) both left before their terms were up, “Republicans will have a 218-213 majority and three vacancies that will be filled by special elections before November,” the New York Post reports.
“House Democrats have only one vacancy to fill after Rep. Brian Higgins (D-NY) resigned on Feb. 2,” the outlet notes.
“Ladies and gentlemen, if three people leave and New York doesn’t work out, who’s going to be the Speaker?” Bongino asked.
“Yeah,” he told viewers, “his name is Hakeem Jeffries.”
And, of course, it is the chilling truth.
If Republicans lose the majority, House Minority Leader Jeffries (D-N.Y.) will take control of the all-important gavel.
What we might be witnessing, Bongino suggested, is the implementation of a dark strategy to hurt former President Donald Trump’s ability to govern should he be re-elected in November.
“Wouldn’t that be interesting if, right before a presidential election where a group of Never-Trump Republicans, who hate Donald Trump, strategically leave their seats in Congress to make sure Speaker Hakeem Jeffries, a radical far-left Democrat… gets the gavel,” he mused.
“Wouldn’t that be fascinating?” he continued.
“All the investigations, right before the election, that are being run by House Judiciary and elsewhere,” Bongino said, would all see a change in leadership if Republicans lose the majority.
“You could have Speaker Jeffries throwing out… all these cases against the Bidens right before the November election, as the chair of each committee changes,” he predicted.
But the “bigger story,” Bongino said, is the “election verification process,” which could land in Jeffries’ hands to run if Buck is telling the truth and three more Republicans resign.
“Ken Buck is screwing you over like you have no idea,” he said. “The thing everyone should be asking right now is, ‘Does somebody have something on these guys’” who are “thinking about leaving.”
“Is there some sort of, like, ‘honeypot’ operation going on?” Bongino wanted to know. “Because this is awfully weird, that they can’t have Trump in office and, all of a sudden, the House is a hair’s-length away from flipping to Hakeem Jeffries, who will destroy every investigation into the Biden crime family, and, on the certification day, would be controlling the House again, just like [former Speaker Nancy] Pelosi did on January 6th.”
To make matters worse, according to Bongino, “the establishment doesn’t like Lauren Boebert.”
Matter of fact,” he said, “they hate Lauren Boebert.”
And, because of the timing of the special election, Boebert “would have to leave her seat to run in the special.”
According to Bongino, “they’re trying to ice Lauren Boebert out of the seat.”
Boebert agrees, calling Buck’s early departure “a gift to the uniparty.”
Ken Buck’s announcement yesterday was a gift to the uniparty.
The establishment concocted a swampy backroom deal to try to rig an election I’m winning by 25 points.

Politicians, Bongino reminded his followers “hate you.”
“Do you understand they hate you now?” he asked.
“I don’t say this to drive division,” Bongino stressed. “I say it because, if you think these people — even a little bit — like you, you’re crazy.”
“They hate your guts.”
“Ken Buck and a bunch of swampy Republicans have a three-fold strategy here,” he said. “Get Speaker Hakeem Jeffries in there; throw out the Biden stuff; be in charge on certification day; and ice Lauren Boebert out of the seat.
“What, do you think Ken Buck just resigned by accident?”
