Haiti is facing a wave of violence and political upheaval that threatens its stability.
Ron DeSantis is taking action to protect his state from Haitians who flee their home country and try to escape to Florida.
And Ron DeSantis just put the Biden administration on notice about interfering with Florida’s right to defend its territory.
Biden’s border crisis
Record numbers of illegal aliens have entered the country on Joe Biden’s watch.
Since Biden took office in January of 2021, more than 7.5 million illegal aliens have successfully made it across the border and into the interior of the United States.
Not only has Joe Biden refused to secure the border, but his administration also goes after any Republican-led state that dares to try and protect its people from the illegal immigration crisis.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered state law enforcement officials and the National Guard to put up razor wire along certain parts of the border.
However, the Biden administration sued, and the Supreme Court granted him the authority to order Border Patrol agents to take down the wire.
But with chaos and violence breaking out in Haiti, Ron DeSantis just made a move to protect his state from migrants fleeing to Florida.
DeSantis sent additional state assets to the Florida Keys and southern waters of the state.
DeSantis takes action to protect the Sunshine State
“For quite some time, the State of Florida has been dedicating significant resources to combat illegal vessels coming to Florida from countries such as Haiti,” DeSantis said. “Given the circumstances in Haiti, I have directed the Division of Emergency Management, the Florida State Guard, and state law enforcement agencies to deploy over 250 additional officers and soldiers and over a dozen air and sea craft to the southern coast of Florida to protect our state,” he continued. “No state has done more to supplement the (under-resourced) U.S. Coast Guard’s interdiction efforts; we cannot have illegal aliens coming to Florida.”
In a press release from his office, DeSantis ripped the federal government for allowing the border to remain wide open.
“Illegal immigrants feel empowered to enter the sovereign territory of the United States because of the federal government’s refusal to diligently enforce our immigration laws and protect the integrity of the border,” his office wrote in a press release.
DeSantis then put Joe Biden on notice about trying to intervene in his border security efforts like he did in Texas.
“When a state faces the possibility of invasion, it has the right and duty to defend its territory and people,” the release continued. “Under Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida will act.”
