Democrats want to make major changes in your home.
They announced a new crackdown for environmental reasons.
Brain-Dead Biden has declared new restrictions on gas stoves.
The Department of Energy revealed a proposed rule Wednesday that would create a new “energy conservation standard” for gas stoves.
The proposed rule would require new gas stoves to meet government energy-efficiency standards.
“Any new or amended energy conservation standard must be designed to achieve the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that DOE determines is technologically feasible and economically justified,” a summary of the proposed rule said.
The report claims that this rule would improve the nation’s energy-saving by at least 3.4%.
“The Energy Policy and Conservation Act, as amended (‘EPCA’), prescribes energy conservation standards for various consumer products and certain commercial and industrial equipment, including consumer conventional cooking products. EPCA also requires the U.S. Department of Energy (‘DOE’) to periodically determine whether more-stringent standards would be technologically feasible and economically justified, and would result in significant energy savings,” according to the rule.
The new rule comes after it was reported that the Biden administration was considering banning gas stoves altogether after a recent study that found children who live in a home with a gas stove are 12% more likely to have childhood asthma, according to a report published last month by the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
Another 2013 study found that there was “no evidence of an association between the use of gas as a cooking fuel and either asthma symptoms or asthma diagnosis” after sampling 500,000 children worldwide.
Brady Seals, co-author of the study which found that gas stoves are correlated with asthma, is also a manager at the think tank RMI’s Carbon-Free Buildings program.
“This adage of, ‘If it’s bad for the climate, it’s probably bad for your health,’ led us to start researching this topic about three years ago,” Seals said.
The “study” was produced by environmental activists already looking to push social change rather than good science.
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. said in an interview with Bloomberg last month that “any option is on the table,” claiming that the pollutants were a “hidden hazard.”
“Products that can’t be made safe can be banned,” he said.
Trumka added that the ban on new gas stoves is a “real possibility,” and said that given enough public pressure, the agency “could get a regulation on the books before this time next year.”
After widespread criticism, the Biden administration claimed that there never had been plans to ban gas stoves however internal documents show otherwise.
New York City and Los Angeles have banned gas stoves in new construction “for health and inequity reasons” and because gas stoves “strongly contribute to climate change through greenhouse gas emissions.”
