Former Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel sparked plenty of controversy during an NBC News appearance this Sunday, but anchor Kirstin Welker may have topped her with a controversial disclaimer.
Appearing specifically on “Meet the Press,” she both attacked former President Donald Trump for wanting to free incarcerated Jan. 6th rioters and also said she believes the 2020 election was entirely fair.
“I do not think people who committed violent acts on Jan. 6 should be free,” she said. “The violence that happened on Jan. 6 is unacceptable. It doesn’t represent our country. If you attacked our Capitol and … you’ve been convicted, then that should stay.”

According to NBC News, she also said President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election “fair and square” and that “he’s the legitimate president.”
This marked a massive reversal from what she said a year ago.
“I do think it’s fair to say there were problems in 2020,” she told CNN in 2023.
She was right in 2023 — there were problems in 2020.
The evidence comes from the media itself, which published a stunning piece after the election admitting that a “cabal of powerful people” had worked together in a “shadow campaign” in 2020 to “control the flow of information” and “change voting systems and laws” ahead of the 2020 election.

The evidence can also be seen in the media’s own behavior, as noted last summer by popular podcaster Joe Rogan, who outright accused the media of having “for sure” rigged the election.
He based this controversial assertion on the media’s handling of the Russian collusion delusion hoax and conspiracy theory, as well as their handling of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
“For sure it was rigged by the media. For sure. Just the Hunter Biden laptop case and the Russia collusion case. Just those two things. Just those two narratives that they knew was not true that they pushed out in front of everybody and that we know had to do with trying to get rid of Trump,” he said.
“It’s manipulation of a public narrative. It’s a manipulation of what the people think is real and not real. Everybody thought he was in collusion with Russia. It’s what everybody thought. All these mainstream media outlets — except Fox News — everybody else was pushing it. And it wasn’t true, and it’s proven to be not true,” he added.
Rogan then turned specifically to the media’s treatment of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
“And then there’s the Hunter Biden laptop thing, which they knew was true, which they said wasn’t true. And they stopped people from sharing it on social media. They stopped people from sharing it on Twitter. Zuckerberg sat in that very chair and said the FBI contacted Facebook and told them that it was Russian disinformation,” he said.
“So they limited the spread that. I don’t know how they did. I don’t know what exactly they did to limit the distribution of that. It’s wild sh-t. And no one cares. No one’s up in arms. No one’s freaking out. Because that is a way you’re going to rig an election without rigging an election,” he added.

Dovetailing back to McDaniel’s NBC News appearance, it also triggered controversy because leftists have established a pattern of being intolerant bigots.
Indeed, just prior to her appearance on the network, #BoycottMeetThePress and #BoycottNBCNews began trending on the social media platform X.

I don’t know what Tim Russert *is* doing in his grave today, if he is in fact rolling over, but I do know what he’s *not* doing: watching Ronna McDaniel lie to Kristen Welker while Kristen Welker lets her lie. No one need watch #MeetThePress to see that. #BoycottMeetThePress

Some of the anger also stems from NBC News’ decision to hire McDaniel as a political consultant.
Speaking of which, the backlash has been so severe that “Meet the Press” host Kirsten Welker was forced to issue a disclaimer saying she had nothing to do with McDaniel’s hiring.
“In full disclosure to our viewers, this interview was scheduled weeks before it was announced that McDaniel had become a paid NBC News contributor,” she said. “This will be a news interview, and I was not involved in her hiring.”

The great irony is that many Republicans despise McDaniel just as much as Democrats, although for vastly different reasons.
Some of these Republicans found it very amusing to watch Democrats freak out over a “sellout RINO” like McDaniel causing them so much grief.
