Former ABC News Producer Arrested on Child Porn Charges After Sickening Images Found

Former ABC News producer James Gordon Meek has been arrested on child porn charges, according to a criminal complaint filed in Eastern Virginia on Wednesday.

Meek suddenly resigned after federal agents raided his Arlington, Virginia, in April last year.

The investigation into Meek first began following a ‘tip off’ from a cloud storage company Dropbox which informed the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about suspected videos of child sexual abuse material, federal prosecutors said.

Following further investigation, officials confirmed the videos depicted child pornography linked to Meek’s account.

The probe then discovered Meek posing as a minor to solicit pornographic images of children.

Following a raid on Meek’s home, prosecutors discovered a trove of child porn images depicting the abuse of children and toddlers on the producer’s iPhone 8, iPhone 6, and an external hard drive.

FBI agents also allegedly found messages he exchanged with another pedophile with whom Meek traded child pornography.
Meek also appeared to confess to having previously abused children in the messages.

“Have you ever raped a toddler girl? It’s amazing,” he allegedly wrote in one exchange.

As Red State notes, at the time of his disappearance, Meek was also preparing for the release of a book he co-authored with retired Green Beret Lt. Col. Scott Mann on Joe Biden’s disastrous military withdrawal from Afghanistan entitled, “Operation Pineapple Express: The Incredible Story of a Group of Americans Who Undertook One Last Mission and Honored a Promise in Afghanistan.”

As Rolling Stone reported, Meek also allegedly approached children on Snapchat using the handle “hoolijax” to solicit pornographic material.

Federal agents interviewed one of the children whose Snapchat account was found on Meek’s phone who “confirmed that Meek and other men had approached her through Snapchat and had pressured her to provide pictures depicting sexually explicit conduct.”

Meek approached underage girls on the video chat app Omegle, which randomly pairs users together. According to Federal agents, sexually explicit images of a 14-year-old girl were found alongside pictures of Meek where his “nude abdomen, legs, and penis were visible.”

If convicted, Meek faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison up to a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
